They sure as hell aren't hard metal...Depends on what you'd call hard I guess, but there's not much soft about songs like Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, Romanticide or Dark Chest of Wonders. chicodallasman Posted July 22, 2006 Share Posted July 22, 2006 Actually, there is a lot of meaning behind the Wishmaster lyrics. It's a tribute by Tuomas to the fantasy novels that inspired him. The lyrics contain references to The Lord of the Rings (Elbereth and Lorien) and to the DragonLance novels (Sla-Mori, meaning secret path; Starbreeze, last name of Princess Alhana of the Silvanesti elves; Silvara, the name of a silver dragon; and Shalafi, meaning referring to one of the main characters from the novels). Both will fizzle out and die without each other. Tarja has been successful with her Christmas album, while Nightwish.... Hasn't. Tarja might have one or two more albums, but the only way she can be really successful is if she finds a new band or comes back to Nightwish. Though, I doubt Tarja will ever come back to Nightwish, and if she does it wouldn't be the same as before. Ok, got the Tarja thing out, now for the Nightwish side... With someone else, the songs wont sound the same. Sleeping Sun, for example, probably wouldn't appeal to people without Tarja's deep voice and accent. I looked at the auditions, and honestly, most of them are really bad :-s. Only one or two were good enough to cover Tarja's tracks, IMO. Apparently only around 1000. They must have a hard time choosing between them, this must be why the decision is taking so long. A few days ago, they requested more demos be sent in. I've seen them live several times, including once backstage where they signed my We Will Take You With Us dvd.
