One week ago i was about to buy a santa. *cool 11m not bad* i finally have the money this week and boom..wtf? 25m??? I was on the fourms and all the discontinued items were 10m+ one week ago they were all about 1/3 of the price. Any ideas why the discontined items rose again? My guess is that someone with 100+ of each discontinued items quit and just either...droped it and no one picked it up in a isolated area or alched it all. What do you guys think? Now they're litterally 100+times more! Well, i'm still kinda pissed that I lost my santa, but whatever... My friend offered to get me one for my b-day (11/16) but that's a ways off. I still think that these items are getting too much attention and the prices should drop, but who am I to say what the rs economy should do? Bought a pumpkin at 4.2, and suddenly it's about 8M, sold for an easter and 800k, and then sold the easter at 6.85m, next few days...what do you know its about 7.5m. And Santa hats lol...I think they are practically raising 500K a day. I'm hoping this won't go on, as I had the intention of buying a santa, but now that goal is alot harder than I thought it would be. Then again, prices could always go down, never know with rares :P And about why the sudden raise..I heard that someone, not sure who, quit runescape with alot of rares, but it could just be rumor/price minipulation. As for the rise in rares, keep it coming. :D I think it is too bad that they don't make the other untradeables tradeable too spread out some of the pressure of the rare market. There are so few rares left that can't be restocked, that it has become a monopoly maket (if not ages ago). Simply put, we can cooperate with each other and sell our masks at 100 mil and people would still buy. No competition = prices can go as high as they want. (if there are people who are willing to buy) The bad thing with a monopoly market is that the price can be easily "manipulated" as people call it here in tip.it. The only bright side is that we can control how this product sells and in what amount. Like here in Sweden, we have monopoly on medicine and alcoholic drinks. Others who wanted one started to give more money for it then, and sellers started to ask more. And prices don't drop, they stick with it... Defi Posted June 28, 2006 Share Posted June 28, 2006 Whenever I'm in Varrok or Fally I always pm people that are selling items that I am selling and tell them to put it higher and they do :D I can guarentee that there is a "gas company" style of upping the prices while trying to make it seem like there is less supply. "buying santa!!!!!!! 3.8mil!!!!!!!!" "selling green phat!!!!!!!88mil!!!!!!!!!!!!" "Selling christmas cracker 140mil!!!!!!!!!" "buying mask set!!!!!!! 20mil!!!!!!!!!!!!" "selling rares!!!!!!!!!! 2mil-100mil each!!!!!!!!" Get lots of people seeing everyone buying and selling for less. Then they tell their freidns what they saw, noobs misinterpret it, sell for less, buy as many as they can and re-sell. Re-setting the price of rares is only up to about 10 people with the sum total of like 30 rares. It's easily done, you just need the people to do it. That, or give everyone like 6 months notice before Jadex makes rares limit one per person per holiday item. So no person can have 10 blue phats, they can only have one. If they try to get more than one, they get a message saying "you only have one head, you don't need another party hat". I see it now, either rares crash and burn, they start costing like 1 billion for a pumpkin and the equivalent of 8k dragon chains for a blue phat, or they are made untradeable, re-released, destroyed, taken out of the game, or alched/eaten/dropped or accounts banned. Jadex is going to piss people pff either way, it's unavoidable. Wow...I just scanned it with my new high tech program called "common sense" and it detected a scam.
