I would suggest setting aside some cash to upgrade memory.

I am assuming that you would buy a pair of the 512's? That'd be a nice boost.

Try scrounging around if possible-- I got my last 256 MB DDR 400 from a friend. He was going to donate it. I am not positive if the other two are DDR 400s, but if they are, I am running 768 MB at DDR 333 speed (due to motherboard limitations).

What's your power supply? You didn't say whether or not you would keep the existing drive or not. With sufficient power, I would use the new drive as a secondary data drive, unless you're doing a lot of gaming and need more memory on the main drive.

300GB IDE Ultra133 harddrive - $99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822140166

1GB of pc2100 RAM - $78

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820141172

Your memory is really insuffecient for a streamline PC these days... So this is what I suggest. $177 total.

300GB, that's over 10x the space. :)

Yeah that's probaly his best bet.

IMO, if you can save up more money towards your PC I would, but I don't know what kind of gaming you do (if at all realy). :)

Hard drive looks good.

The memory I would go with pc3200, even if your motherboard doesn't support speed of this memory it would downlock to meet the motherboard speed. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820145440

I can't find the motherboard on the PCChips website either to check.

Isn't 300gb a bit of overkill for such and old computer? Really, though, it depends what you're doing. You're PC in it's current state is pretty much useless for any kind of gaming, but if all you're doing is downloading heaps of music and creating large sized movies then yea, a big hard drive might be nice. But if all you need it for is the general stuff, 300gb is huge overkill when you could be saving for a new PC.

hmm ok you got 80$ left, this ones going to be hard.

On one hand, you need a new processor (1.1ghz... eek). However, anything that would be close to an upgrade wouldn't help.

You also are in dire need of a video card, but would need a bit more money for a worthwhile investment. (and you only have PCI/AGP slots so getting a new card would be almost pointless atm because it would get outdated fast and start outdated.

However, 256MB of ram. You deffinitly need more (how the heck do you manage to play WoW?)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820141218

Gig of ram (i'm fairly sure you have 2 slots for it?). Thats 80$. However, i'm thinking you might be able to do this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820144001

512MB ram 40$

+

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814140051

Geforce FX5500 50$.

Yeah, I know.. 90$. However, the PC downstairs that my little brother uses (my old rig) has someone simular specs (better processor though) and uses an FX5500, and it can run source on all highs. Has a gig of ram too though.

I copy/pasted the type of ram you had into the search engine, so the example(s) should be fine. Obviously I would check up first, but i'm 99.9% sure about it.
