The .000001 is already in there. Adding another smidge of control structure that'd only be used if a value is present would only add another .00001 1% of the time.

If we can have two in our profiles why not 3... or 4 or 5....... you can go on forever. Keep it as just the one. If you want any more then tuff. You can only ever play on one at any one time anyway.

 

 

 

Because I'm not asking for that many. And plus he could put a limit of 2 or 3 max for the amount of RSN we want in there (It's not going to take much effort to add that feature).

Ever thought that others might? I mean, sure, it's eay to add another 10 feilds for rsn's if needed, but really, where does it stop? You might not need more than two, but others will... And then they'll ask for it to be etc etc... IMO it's an evil spiral, best thing to do if the admins go for this is to have it comma divided...

I concur with this thought. RuneScape Names can't have spaces anyway, so this works. :)

While putting it all in one box wouold mean there is still only one query and not individual ones for each username it would mean that the query is much longer and more complex and thus would still put more strain on the server than just the one. Seems like a complete waste of resources for me and a downgrade in performance for a majority of people for a few dozen people to have an extra RSname

It wouldn't even be another query... it'd just be a little bit more code that deals with the information gathered. A bit of code that would only be activated if and only if somone has entered (an) RS name(s).

If you used the comma-diliminated method, you could simply set a maximum length of characters (letters) on the field and allow as many as it'll hold. Then you wouldn't have to worry (as much) about extra DB space being taken up-

Even now that's a lot of wasted space.

 

A second field I wouldn't add in personally.
