Loge_05
Because its somthing which can be compared in Jackalope14's example. If you can't see his connection, then (Insert insult here). What connection was there in Jackalope's example between RS and Religion? Offline and unavailable.

What connection was there in Jackalope's example between RS and Religion? Its called an analogy. The point is people put stuff other people dont necessarily need to know in their sigs. I admit its not the best analogy #-o and I apologise.

pokemama
Folks, just the mild arguments you've seen here are an example of why such things are not allowed on most fansite forums. A good piece of advice that has been handed down for CENTURIES is to "never discuss politics or religion" in settings where conflict isn't appreciated, such as workplaces and office parties. Both (and religion more so) can be hotbutton issues with Very Strong and Deeply Held Personal Convictions on all sides, which quickly leads to conflict. Personally, I do resent the odd way in which religion has been gradually censored out of American public life, first by Hollywood, then by over-enforcing the Constitution, and then by political correctness. I think we Americans need more beliefs in our everyday lives. But in fansite forums which are monitored for conflict, it just doesn't work out. it's a lot easier to get over yourself when you look at intelligence the same way you look at beauty, or height, or eye color: being smart is easy, but being good is hard ... being smart is handed to you, being good is handed to *nobody*. Mirror
Well time to get into this conversation. Back during Easter, I had a Cross themed sig. I did not say anything besides "This is the reason I live, what is yours?" And I said any comments are to be sent via pm to me. That was so it didnt blow up anywhere except in private. And yes I did have conversations with people via pm. None that were bashing my sig, mostly were, "Yes I agree with you". And one even wanted the sig from me. I never referenced the words God, Christian, Cross, Christ, or anything in that way. (If you want a picture of the sig, I still have it for proof) My sig was never taken down by a mod, but me personally after the season was over. But for me personally I did not have a problem with it, and by the looks of the pm's I got, no one else did. I think that sig was more profound then saying "I am a Christian". So in conclusion, I was prepared for the worst when I put it up. I did everything I did in a civilized manner. That is why I believe I was allowed to keep it up or I was just under the radar. I wanted people to pm me about it, to see what they thought about it. If I did something wrong in that matter, I apologize, but if you had a problem with it or anything else that says like "I am a Christian" you should just pm them about it. That way its off of any topics. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.
____
"This is the reason I live, what's yours?" It's a question of personal preference. However, something like: "This is the reason I live, is it yours?" More of a questioning of faith - and that would rub people the wrong way. People have no real reason to complain / have a problem with what you had up. It's more of the preechy type that aren't really liked.
