July 14, 200619 yr I have always wondered the Runescape's freeplay and members.. Is it so that freeplay is the runescape itself and members is the expansion pack, or is it so that freeplay is just a trial version and members is the Full game itself? I myself think that freeplay is just a trial version, but i do not know the truth itself.. discuss? :) 6221st to 85 Slayer. ( Yippee)
July 14, 200619 yr members came out after f2p so i assume f2p is the whole game and p2p is expansion Computers will never be above humans because we made them. That's what monkeys used to say about us.
July 14, 200619 yr f2p is just trial version, since you can see members with their stuff but can't get it, which is impossible with an expansion pack, since an expansion pack is like a new game with the same formula \
July 14, 200619 yr F2p is a complete game. P2p is an expansion pack. Jagex simply choosed to do massive advertising so people will purchase the expansion pack. Similarly, you can see stuff about expansion packs if you don't have it, you just have to look for it instead of it staring you in the face. RSN: Mutashi

July 15, 200619 yr If it was a trial version, then we would have limited access to all skills instead of full access to some, partial access to some, and no access to others.
July 15, 200619 yr If it was a trial version, then we would have limited access to all skills instead of full access to some, partial access to some, and no access to others. So what "full access" do free players get to any skill? Thus, you're right when you say that, "If it was a trial version, then we would have limited access to all skills...". But you're wrong when you say free players have full access to any skill whatsoever. Anyways, f2p is a trial version of the game. If it was the full game, with the member's as the "expansion", you wouldn't get messages saying "you need to be on a member's server..." etc.

If it was the full game, with the member's as the "expansion", you wouldn't get messages saying "you need to be on a member's server..." etc.Wrong, wrong, wrong and wrong. First of all, f2pers have full access to all combat items. Before you go spouting out all the things members have and f2pers don't, think back to when rs first had the f2p/p2p options. There was no dragon, no whips and other such things. They were added AFTER the original p2p came out. Therefore they are all things added to the EXPANSION PACK that is p2p. Technically speaking, as far as full access goes, you can have 1 of 2 views on the subject: 1)Full access means everything that came out when the game was created, which f2pers have. 2)Full access means access to everything currently in the game, which any game with an expansion pack DOESN'T have. I used to play diablo2, and when it came out, the expansion. The expansion had new classes, new monsters and new items, but that didn't make the original game any less of a full game... Also, at the end of d2, you got a video pretty much guaranteeing an expansion pack, which could easily be compared to all the "you must be on a members server to do that" A trial of a game is when you take a full game, and remove most of it, or set a time limit on how long a person can play. An expansion pack is when you take an existing game, and add extra features for those willing to pay for it. Which of these sounds more like rs, which was once f2p ONLY, and merely had new things added on to get people to pay. Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )

First off, you say f2p have full access to all combat items... ever heard of dragon items? Yeah, you really made a valid point there. Secondly, what you said that I have now underlined, is true and is shown in RuneScape. When you're F2P you can still see all the p2p skills in your skills page, can you not? And all the p2p spells? And prayers? And the players themselves? That's because it's NOT the full game, many parts are missing. Hence it is a trial version, as such.[/b]

First, you talk about dragon items, which, as zub said, came out after p2p was created, which means f2p lost nothing, but instead p2p simply gained more...expanded upon, you could even say :-k . As for your second point, how can a full game keep getting fuller? It can't, unless you keep expanding upon it (gee, theres that idea again). F2p is a fully living and breathing world,a complete game in itself, that can intereact with those users who have chosen to enrich their gaming experience.

July 15, 200619 yr ... ...Some very exellent points =P Someone who didn't bother reading what I posted.. Someone who DID read what I posteed... ... how many people are gonna quote this? anyway to the original post f2p have full access to the strength skill Sorry, couldn't resist... Anyway, here are some skills that f2p has full access to: Attack Strength Hp Defense Mining Smithing Range Magic Prayer Anything else that was there before p2p came out "but zubee, f2pers don't have (insert members only object/part of skill here)" That's because they were added later. After the release of p2p: The map was EXPANDED The list of items was EXPANDED The list of monsters was EXPANDED The list of quests was EXPANDED The list of things each skill could do was EXPANDED Seeing a pattern? I'll say it again, in order for f2p to be a trial, they'd have to actually REMOVE something from it, which they have not done. Name me 1 thing jagex actually REMOVED from f2p (that was kept in p2p). Quit runescape, now playing EVE-Online(Mail Cambarus and say hi  )

It's not taking part of the map away, it's just turning it into a members are, thus it left f2p and p2p kept it. You could almost say that they expanded the members area....get the point yet? EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it.
July 15, 200619 yr Is answering the question actually going to affect the way you play or what? There's obviously no right answer, and the people above are just going back and forth, stating the same things with varying wording, not to mention the unnecessary quoting. I am a tree.
July 15, 200619 yr members came out after f2p so i assume f2p is the whole game and p2p is expansionthats what i would think of it, becaue a trial version u usualy have a time limit like a certain amount of hours u can play

July 18, 200619 yr F2P is the full game. P2P is the expansion. F2P is the full game because you can flourish well, and accomplish cash goals and have better skills than players on P2P. P2P is the expansion because there are many more new ways to accomplish these skills and make money. I think I may get hte expansion set soon. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
