July 30, 200619 yr OMG i wish people would listen to ME when i spout crap! That's a good point... Why the hell did people believe him!? :wall: Yes, it makes complete sense that we were brought here by magical aliens with technologies that break so many laws of physics. Of course there's this guy trapped in a mountain, and our ancestors were all brainwashed! Why didn't I think of this!? :-s My god, people really are total idiots...
July 30, 200619 yr The only reason any of them believe it is because they aren't told that stuff until they have been in the church for a fair while. I believe they get told it when they are an "Ascended Thetan". Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.

I believe they get told it when they are an "Ascended Thetan". Aaaaaand, that is around the time they quit. I'm not sure why the 'tards can't just look it up on the internet. I know they tell you you can't, but come on...Human curiousity... The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past. - Me!
July 31, 200619 yr They only tell them about the dianetics part, they get the victim convinced that it is about science, hence the name. Some people are changed by being a moderator. I wouldn't be.
July 31, 200619 yr I just find this strange: For instance, Hubbard's 1958 book Have You Lived Before This Life documents past lives described by individual Scientologists during auditing sessions. These included memories of being "deceived into a love affair with a robot decked out as a beautiful red-haired girl", being run over by a Martian bishop driving a steamroller, being transformed into an intergalactic walrus that perished after falling out of a flying saucer, and being "a very happy being who strayed to the planet Nostra 23,064,000,000 years ago" no offense but that sounds like a really bad dream or a vision under the influence of something... dude i got pked and lost my full zezima
July 31, 200619 yr What I don't understand is how they have a long story about creation (sort of) and different beliefs, and at the same time, they say that everyone should believe what they want and find their own truth. I'm not knocking the idea of everyone finding their own truth, but you have to pick one. You can't believe in Xenu as part of your religion and then tell people they don't have to believe in that...
July 31, 200619 yr Personally, I can see why it can gain popularity. Let's have a look at other religions. First of is christianity. Ignoring various political practices over the years, the inquisitation, the whole business with Martin Luther and various other spectacular screwup, it's a religion that speaks of things you should Do, and things you should Not Do Unless You Want To Burn In Hell. There's a moral code attached to it, Thou shalt not kill and all that. It judges people. It wants people to evaluate themselves and see if they're good human beings. Most religions are quite similar. They encourage evaluation of one's behaviour to see if it's Right or Wrong. Most of them even have the Thou Shalt Not Kill clause, not to mention stealing and various other crimes. And the afterlife... Most people are afraid of death, yet the greatest reward in most religions require you to die to recieve them. Not to mention the fact that there's some really excurciating punishments if you were to fail, ranging from Burning to Having To Do It All Over Again. Not so in scientology. You are, in effect, a god. You are worth more. And you don't have to die to claim your reward either, just send some of that cash this way... *shrug* As I said, I can see why it's popular. -This message was deviously brought to you by:
