Who plays poker?

Hi guys, I really enjoy playing poker online while I play Runescape. My favorite game to play is Omaha H/L and then Texas Hold 'Em. I live in Colorado, so I can only bet a maximum of $5 dollars at the poker tables in Blackhawk. Please respond back with which forms of poker you enjoy and where you play them.

You can play online, but i usually play with my friends. Another name for the game is big two.

Its dealt into 4 players or 13 cards each. 2 is the highest card. Cards rank from diamond, clover, heart, spade. You start out by putting down a poker combo that starts with the diamond 3, since it's the lowest card.

So say it's the 1st round, I put down a diamond 3. Then the other players have to put down something higher than that.

or

I could put down a straight that includes the diamond three. So the rest have to beat the straight with a higher straight or flush/ full house. It goes on in a circle until noone can beat it. Then the winner can put down any combo that he wants. Then the player with no cards in the end first wins.

It's one of the best card games played without chips.

I play texas hold em with friend from time to time, but a friend of mine played it online with some of his friends. They're all math students, and they're all extremely good in poker, just because they can perfectly estimate their chance and know when to take a risk and when not to. It gets pretty complicated sometimes, but those guys... My friend even won 6,000̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì in 2 weeks time! That's incredibly much money for a 19-year old. Too bad there's a new law that forbids these games online here :(

I play Texas Hold 'Em, and the standard 5-card-draw with my friends, but I don't usually stake money on it... so really, it requires no skill whatsoever. And being the absolutely luck-challenged guy I am, I tend to lose a lot.

I play texas hold 'em mainly. Won a couple of hundred yesterday online, actually. The way to test your skill truly though is in real life. Your poker face and the way you pick on people's mannerisms and foibles can make or break your game.

Hey guys, good posting, Bubsa, I'm moving out to Las Vegas in December. I'm planning on playing in a T(/TH/F $75 buyin Omaha H/L tournament1 at the Orleans. In between tournaments, I'm going to play ath the Mirage in there $5/$10 w/full-kill Omaha H/L cash game. See how I do after 3 months of play, I have a 5k bankroll to pay rent, food, and play poker as a living. Should be fun. Also gonna play a lot of $1-$2 NL Hold'EM at the MGM.

Good Luck at the Tables!

I used to think that too, but then I got around to thinking about how many of these crazy gambling people would just gamble their life away in one day. Of course they may also get rich in one day, but the chances are much lower. I usually just think of laws like that as a safety gate sort of thing they use for babies. :)

Your right, safety gates are there for the hopeless, but then it controls too many people who don't need that control. Like a fishing net sweeping the ocean for fish, sometimes a dolpin, shark, or turtle gets caught up also. And that's how hot dogs are made kids! :ohnoes:

Better safe than sorry. :)

The thing is, there's nearly no luck involved in a good game of texas hold em. So if you play it online and keep winning, you're just very good at it. I don't see why these games shuold be banned; I do understand these games can't be for real money if you're not 21 yet.

Me and 4 friends play around someones house, all in ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã5 and winner takes all.

I managed to come first last time I played which is quite an acheivement, i'm quite good but usually under-perform because it seems i can go ten hands with nothing more than a pair.

Oh, there's a lot of luck going in hold em.

Even when you're favourite to win, you can still get raped.

Although, if you only play when you have a top notch hand - then sure you won't need luck. But if you play it to your outs and take risks, then there's luck involved. And it's more fun, and you generally win more often.

That said, I play Hold`em at the local pubs / clubs. Matter of fact, a mate of mine piked up first place down the coast on Saturday night \' I've really cut back on how much I play online, because there's no fun left in it anymore. I'm not really getting anything decent back out of it.

Yeah, but of course, the more you play, the less chance of having good ro bad luck only; it all evens out :) And when you win most of the time then, you can only conclude that you're better than the others :)

There's this board game called 'setllers of catan' I often play with friends. It can be compared to Risk; you need luck of the draw with the dices, but it's far more complicated than risk. I've only lost once with it, and before people were always saying I was so lucky. But eventually they admit I'm just better; if they get a stroke of luck, I still manage to win. It's all about knowing the game and being able to predict the opponent's moves/errors and not making any faults yourself.
