July 31, 200619 yr Crossbows are still useless in f2p, where they actually might have been used had they recieved an update that actually made them better than shortbows. In p2p people may use this for a couple of weeks, then will probably be forgotten along with the rest of the ranged gear that nobody uses (Snakeskin, throwing axes, javelins, Dorgeshuun crossbow etc) I predict an utterly pointless update that soon people will abandon in favour of bows. Maybe give f2p like up to mith crossbows and maybe addy bolts, so they are at least equal to bows, but then still don't have everything members do.

July 31, 200619 yr just to clarify, crossbows are still worthless in f2p? f2p have been given no new crossbows or bolts, infact bolts have been replaced with bronze bolts, which may in fact be worse than the regular bolts used to be.

Definatly, they should give some of this top f2p, they would apreciate it so much more imo, the amount of newbs there are trying to buy a crossbow in varrock is amazing, and thats without any new updates!

July 31, 200619 yr It doesn't really bother me. I don't think I've used a crossbow in my life, and I don't ever plan to. I'm still happy with the last Range update we F2Pers got. <33 Mithril and Addy arrows, and Willow and Maple bows!

July 31, 200619 yr Crossbow was quite good in RSC,but then after we switched to RS2,bows became a lot more better. So yeah,to kind of make up for it,they have done something with the crossbows.It would be interesting if they would allow something for the F2P's.But might have to wait for it I guess or it just won't ever happen. July 31, 200619 yr iam p2p but, to be honest, i finished shilo vilage quest yesterday evening. and it seems the new update came out this afternoon. but yesterday evening i was mining quietly alone. and now there arond 10 people with mining lvls 80. and i can't mine anymore ---- so i think its never goign to be normal agian in shilo village, it will be crowded every time in the gem mine from now on. so i dont think this is a good update, the whole gem economy is ------ up and jagex didnt think about a solution about the gems. :shame: we only have 1 big gem mining place, and that is not enough for the bolts people r making now. so there will be a shortage of gems. and it seems that the crossbows r better so people will stay using gem tipped bolts. :ohnoes: RSN: rijpelberg
July 31, 200619 yr Ive wielded a crossbow, and it sucks. Shortbow is actually the best for damage. But it looks that with these updates, Range may actually gain an edge. I mean, look at some of the abilities that the bolts can get. The Diamond tip armour piercing? and the dragon's breath? both seem primmed to wipe out an unsuspecting warrior... once combined with the bolt (i cant remember the name) that can knock you over. Maybe you should try it out... The basic crossbows may not be that great, but i wonder the effect that the barbs and the enchanted arrows will have.
