Like alotta people said nothing, but worse is depending on who you are most people will forget about you in a few hundred years.

they may forget you, but people will maek a statue larger then the statue or liberty in my honour, lol

I belive in the Chinese myth that when you die, if you've been good (me). You become another human and remember nothing. If you've been bad ( Twisted Evil <- him) you become an animal!

Simple as that! Anxious

that would be good, its a win win situation, because even if u do become an animal, so what?

Well, I finally decided to read this post. It seems as though we have tons of Hindus, lots of agnostics, and many, many atheists. Too bad. :?

After reading it, there's a large lack of hope. There's no peace, no final justification or repayment of sins, there's no joy or happiness. There's nothing that makes this life worth livable. After all, hope is something that makes us distinctly human.

I would make a large post showing my viewpoint, but if you've read this entire post, then you'll understand. But let me quote from C.S. Lewis about heaven. If you will simply indulge me for a little bit.

The Weight of Glory

This sermon was preached when England was at war with Germany, on June 8, 1941. People were probably at that time struggling with issues like truth, and justice and relevance in a world that is falling apart. Lewis puts forward the idea that a desire for reward is a basically biblical idea. He goes on to state that the appeals in scripture are actually given with desire in mind, and that desire is built into the design of man. He also states that the reward fits the behavior and is not an inappropriate or mercenary reward but the culmination of the activity. "The proper rewards are not tacked onto the activity for which they are given, but are the activity itself in consummation."

He goes on to make the point that within us is the desire for heaven since that is what we were created for. I also appreciate his discussion of the concept that our memories of things that are good are actually memories of memories, that is the good things we have experienced in our lives are mere shadows of the desire within us for the ultimate good, heaven. This is helpful in understanding the longing within us, for that other land is something yet not experienced and should not be confused with those things that have awakened that desire within us. Lewis wrote about this longing in Till We Have Faces also, "Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back. All my life the God of the Mountain has been wooing me. Oh, look up once at least before the end and wish me joy. I am going to my lover." This longing I would agree with Lewis is in the heart of every man. His argument is very successful because it appeals to that inner truth that is part of general revelation. The passage in Romans Chapter 8 indicates that man desires the redemption of creation, "For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now". Romans 8:20-22. This passage supports what Lewis is saying, in the heart of all mankind there is a longing for everything to be put right once again.

The other very good insight Lewis makes in this sermon is the value we are to place on each other. We truly have never met a mortal person. We all shall live forever. This should have an impact on how we think about people.

If you want more information, read the 1st chapter of his book "The Weight of Glory." He goes in much more in-depth there.

Now, Lewis also addresses different views of heaven from the Bible.

1. It is eternal and beautiful. Because its streets are "made of gold", it could also be a metaphor for being eternal and never rusting. Gold, after all, doesn't rust.

2. Heaven is in the presence of God. At last we can be united with our maker and Savior. We were created to need Him, and our hole that can only be fulfilled by Him will at long last be fulfilled. We can be in pure joy, pure bliss as we have everything we can ever need or even dream.

3. Heaven is the place in which we become complete. There is no sin, there is nothing wrong in the world. No one is out to get you or gain more power. After all, pride is the worst sin and got Satan kicked out. We will have no sin nature and everything will be put back to order. God is a just God, after all.

4. We receive new bodies. No longer is there anything that decays or grows old. We never grow old, actually.

5. We receive a name uniquely our own, so it's not like we are all "saved souls". We are unique and independent. How beautiful that we can receive something that is remained secret between God and us only.

6. We will have jobs. Each will be rewarded according to his life on earth. Each person will have a specific role to play and we will all help each other out. Everything will, at last, become perfect.

Is heaven boring? Lol by no means. It will be a state of pure ecstasy (as the Hindus say) but something much more than that. After all, it seems pretty boring to just do nothing for all of eternity, right? And since general revelation dictates that we have a desire for something we don't know or understand, then we know that we will be active.

After all, there are lots of people you can catch up with. And then of course you can take strolls with the personal God of the universe.

I can't wait for the boysenberry pie! :D

Hell is a fairy tale.

Assuming God even exsists. He's never helped me, so I wouldn't know. If he exsisted and loved us all, he'd help us each individually if he could. Instead, we get the "That'd prove his exsistance and thus make faith worthless!" crap.

But lets not get into God exsisting. I'm talking about Hell not exsisting, period. Assume God loves us all, which they say he does, I cannot see you "burning eternally" for inane things. Murder? I could see that. Suicide? Yea, perhaps. But come on, I'm expected to believe that if I use God's name in vain, I'm going to Hell? If I stole a peice of candy when I was 4, I'm going to Hell? If I'm committing "vanity" by thinking I am teh sexiness, I'm going to Hell? Please...God putting any single one of us in eternal fire for that crap is like lighting your kid on fire for back-talking. Every child does it. Except my future children, of course...Back-talking is rewarded with Bakc-handing.

I kid, I kid.

I once read something about "hell" being a bible misinterpritation or something, and that hell actually meant hole in the ground, or something. Dying forever is a pretty good, uhh...reward for being an [wagon], I would think. Good people are rewarded by living forever (I wouldn't mind that actually, but I somehow think it'd be boring...), bad people just poof out of exsistance as an athiest knows death. THAT seems fitting. Burning forever does not, and if God would do such a thing, I would rather burn eternally than follow him. Would you not be against your parent killing your siblings? Thought so.

Living forever kinda' sounds boring anyways. I wouldn't mind it if it was like it is now, going forward with technology and the like, because technology is teh hawtness, but I somehow invision it a world with boring, over-happy people where we all just sit around singing songs. SNORE. If I'm going to be good my entire life, I want some goddamn fun. Lord knows I won't be having any in my life-time.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance

You can clearly see that God does not wish for anybody to be sent to hell, but we have been giving choice to follow him or not.

I find it interesting that people want to go to heaven, but yet don't want to have anything to do with God and His laws.

I also suggest a movie for you to see, Bruce Almighty

How can there be a heaven without a hell?

God is perfect. We are not. God is pure. We are sinful. Thus, there is no way that we can be in the presence of a perfect God unless somehow we are cleansed. No other religion answers this question except for Christianity. I've said this dozens of times, but I'll say it again.

Jesus came to wipe out our sins. He separated us from them "as far as the East is from the West." If we believe in Him for salvation and accept His gift of salvation, then we enter into the covenant and God sees His perfect son's blood instead of our sin. That's the only way.

If you pm me your email, then I can send you something a friend of mine wrote on the problem of evil. It's an easy read, and I'm sure it'll be interesting for you. Now, granted that the problem of evil is different from hell, it might answer some questions for you.

I'm curious what the hell a Jim Carrey movie has to do with this. I've seen it, I own it, actually. I'm guessing you're saying it has some strong message...But so do a lot of things.

Pianofreak - I'm curious about the people BEFORE Jesus and the people currently who know nothing of him. Certainly they don't know Jesus, so they cannot be saved?

It just all doesn't make sense to me. At all. Seems very selective and situational. If you're a Christian, you'll get rewarded, but if you follow your own, different beliefs, screw you.

I believe there could be a God. But I also believe in evolution. Evolution obviously has some truth to it. But my believing there could be a God is on my OWN terms. Not 2 billion other people's. I feel I'm forced by society to believe or I will die before I know it and never have the chance to even question it. I feel like, if God wanted me to follow him, he'd make it be my choice and give me all the time I need to contemplate it. I want to believe there is a God, but being rushed into it just makes it fake. It's for the same reason Jehova's Witnesses don't get baptised RIGHT away - They need to feel that devotion to God and to feel like, yes, they do believe, and they love God with all of their heart. I can't say that at the moment (that I believe) so I'm not going to kid him by just saying I do. If anything, that's the Jehova's Witness's best teaching. I know they have a bad rep for knocking on doors and stuff, but it's no different than invading my TV trying to make me buy $100 bible's and say I'll go to hell if I don't follow Jesus (Christians are known for this one...Evangelics in aprticular...).

I'm curious about something, Pianofreak - What do you feel about those Baptist church people? You know, the ones on the news lately who will not shut their giant, hate-filled traps? Do you feel that the Christian community (yourself included) disagree's with them, or agree's and just doesn't say it? I'm just curious, I'm not assuming anything here. Just a thought, I just saw the lady on tv...AGAIN.

The popularity of any given religion today depends on the victories of the wars they fought in the past.

as much as i'd hate if this turned into a christians vs the world debate, you have to admit, it has holes.

u know the adam and eve thingy and how eve took the fruit and then she was banished and all mankind would die forever, pretty cruel punishment for just taking some fruit.

also whenever there is proof of something which goes against the bible the church doesnt accept it they step on it, liek the da vince code (im not saying that is proof) and that guy who invented the telescope and found out the sun was in the middle of the galaxy not the earth, instead of hearing him out the killed him.

It amazes me that people can quote bible scripture 100% accurately and know who said it, and when. If anything, that's a miracle in itself.

I could say only this: If you think it's so easy, then how do you know you believe and trust in Jesus 100%? Obviously you haven't put much thought into it if you think it's so easy. Like I said...Someday, when I'm ready, I'll make the decision, but right now, I can't fool myself into believing. That isn't what God would want. I'd only be fooling myself, not him.

Isn't that close to what Jim Carey said? That God never did anything for him, and that He's picking on him? Then what happened when Jim Carey got the powers and granted every1's prayers, all hell broke loose. As much as we'd like God just to grant all our prayers and our life to be easy, that's not what this life is going to be like, otherwise what would be the point of heaven. We are born into a world of sin where a battle for your soul happens everyday.

And i'm glad that you're not gonna fake your belief Tigra, I just pray you make the decision before it's too late.

Tigra, I'm sending you a pm about your last post. I'm not going to start this debate AGAIN since we've already settled most of what is going to be said. I also don't like it when I ask a fun question designed to get all sorts of answers and it becomes world v. Christians. Therefore, I'm just gonna leave this post alone and others can come say what they think.

But if you'd like to know what I wrote to Tigra, then pm me and I'll send it to you.

And btw when the Bible say that Jesus is coming back for HIs apostles He means all christians, not just the 12 diciples. so don't say you don't beleive a part of the bible just because you don't understand it.
Didn't Jesus say he was going to return during the life of the people who were living during his time?

This is the way the world ends. Look at this [bleep]ing shit we're in man. Not with a bang, but with a whimper. And with a whimper, I'm splitting, Jack.

also we arent necassirily talking aout 1 god here, there are hundreds maybe thousands of gods, or if u go into all the different semi gods u'd probly find millions, why is 1 god better than all the rest, guess how many hindu's there are, why is there religion and every1 elses false because the bible claims that there is only 1 god (i think it said that anyway, never got around to actually reading it except for when i was in primary school)

I completely dismiss the idea because there is no credible foundation to support it. The same reason why I dismiss God, or gods as you say could exist. I think you are thinking I am a Christian and am defending the bible, by bashing the Da Vinci Code. This is not the case.

I don't think one religion is true and the rest are false, they are all false to me. There are probably 900 million Hindus in India alone and maybe 100 million more in the world, mostly in southern Asia. The number of people who follow a certain religion does not have anything to do with it's credability, so I'm not sure why you brought that up.
