Telekenetic grab as a method of travel?

Featured Replies

In runescape, if you are a mage, you can either walk everywhere or teleport to some place. But if you have the power to move objects with your magical powers, wouldn't you take advantage of that to move yourself?

How does a Telekentic grab work: Many people seem to think that telekentic grab instantly makes the item you want appear in your inventory. Not true. If you have had any time in the mage training arena, you know that casting a telekentic grab on something moves it to you. Little items will move to you and go into your inventory. The huge stone blocks in the arena, will slowly move to you and stop when they reach an obstacle.

The magical bubble that surrounds an item is the magic being expelled onto the item to get it to move.

How would travel work? Well, I know everyone has done a chinup before. You are pulling with all of your strength, but instead of the stupid bar coming closer to you, you come closer to the bar. Same theory. If you cast telekenitc grab on a huge heavy object that you simply cannot move, you will be pulled toward the item. Transportation by magic!

What I would like to suggest is in a future update, have a land of wizards who's main method of travel is using telekenetic grabs. After that, put in a few iitems in the game that you can grab onto to move across the map area quicker.

cool idea. Way to think outside the box

however why would i use a law rune to move like 20 squares away?

AWSOME idea its like using newtons's laws WITH MAGIC. You just need to pull on the large object wiht enough force to euqal your weight in KG. For every action there is always an equal and oposite reaction! You could have diff lvl spells that allow you to teleport with hevier wights in your invantory becuase the more weight you had the harder you would have to "grab".

thxs vibro for the sig ^_^.

good, but then that's another way to make escaping fromthe wildy easyer lol, but good thinking

136 Combat :: Jjozzie :: 2000 Total

99 Slayer - 99 Summoning - 92 Herblore - 82 Prayer

64m Attack - 25m Strength - 17m Defence - 20m Range - 44m Hp - 20m Magic

:: Bandos ::

*Solo* - 3 Hilts - 2 Chestplates - 2 Tassets - 1 Boots - 6 Shards

*Duo - 8 Hilts - 6 Chestplates - 6 Tassets - 4 Boots - 14 Shards

This is an interesting idea. I can think of a lot of uses for this, other than just moving yourself around.

Say you are a melee'er getting attacked by a ranger. Cast the spell on the ranger and it moves both you toward each other so you're one square apart! Now you're in range to beat on him!

This could be a short-cut to climbing walls or "jumping" up to balconies.

This could be a way to quickly get across a river, stream, or other impassable ground obstacle.

Cools as it sounds, something tells me that we shouldn't hold our breath waiting for Jagex to implement it, though. ;)

I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but, I am not sure you realize tht what you heard is not what I meant.

After i read this, the first thing i though about was to move across rivers. That would cut some time out of travel between certain places.

Two thumbs up :thumbsup:

Yeah I was sort of thinking like that too. Like how the bones to bananas got a better spell (bones to peaches) why not be able to unlock a spell, telekentic pull, that can pull you to places. As a method of transportation, kind of like you said. :D

Yea, and add telekentic push to force stuff away and wander around as a Jedi!

I personally thought of the river idea too, but with other places too. For example, if there is a deep chasm blocking your way, but you notices a large boulder on the other side, you can telepull your way across. However, perhaps to prevent abuse, it can't work through stuff like gates and fences? Telegrab can work since the item you grab is small enough to pass through or over the fence or gate, but you yourself are too large to do either...

This could add a new dimension to quests not only from easier travel but also from new puzzles; imaging pulling levers or something in the right order to disable traps from across the room, while someone else has to risk their way across!

A very nice members addition. Large boulders could be cleverly placed throughout the lands where there are areas of steep hill or water. Telekinetic push could be used as a spell for mages, however it could easily be abused as a fighter would never touch a mage. Maybe you would have to telekinetic push blocks and make a bridge or something, I dunno. Nice idea, needs a couple kinks and stuff though.

Live, love, eat!

They have this on another game I used to play, but 1 law for moving a few squares wouldn't be used much. How about using another rune, such as a body cojoined with a lot of the basic runes?

exalent idea. This would mean people might actuyl use bodies for stuff other than curse training and maybe it would alow high lvl f2p runecrafters to make some more money too. :thumbsup:

Maybe with the boulder idea, there could be trick boulders, that instead of you coming to it, you would stay there and the boulder would either fill the hole or go off a cliff...

ooo this would make a great puzzle in a quest! it could also b used to take shortcuts....

Very nice idea =D> there could be alot of uses for it. Although it'd be a bit unfair to telekentic grab a player in castle wars to you... :roll: If it was disabled in castle wars, or all minigames at that (maybe not all) then it'd be a nice future update. :D

Telekenetic grabs for mages, hookshots for rangers, and grappling hooks for warriors. Eureka!

Also,A Mage On Some Ones Team Could Just Telegrab The Guy With The Flag Until He's Safe,Which Would unbalance Castle Wars.
