this is very interesting, I only knew the 4 dementsions before now. This will allow me to see some things a little differently.

And adam, life exists in our universe, it has to. They're saying life could exist in other dimensions. Aliens could never reach earth (at least in our lifetime) because the universe isnt old enough, and dimentional travel is impossible.

 

I didn't say otherwise? I'm sure life exists in our dimension and in others, assuming other dimensions do exist, which I'm still skeptical of. I mean just because someone makes a theory of existence and comes up with some idea doesn't make it anywhere remotely valid. I could come up with 10 dimensions of my own and make up explanations for them just like anyone could. Unless there is some kind of research or anything behind this thinking?

 

Anyways, back to what you said, it's always possible although hugely unlikely aliens could reach us within this lifetime, and how do we know dimentional travel is impossible? They did it in a wrinkle in time. :P

 

 

 

Ahh i apologise, i didnt read properly. And no, they cant reach us. To reach us from even the closest star is about 8+ light years (if we assume this star has life supporting capabilities then yea, life could reach us). Also, the universe is expanding on top these already massive distances. And nothing apart from light itself can go the speed of light, because the energy it takes is impossible to obtain. That, + when you approach the speed of light that energy is converted into your own mass, which makes it impossible to reach the speed of light.

 

 

 

You can get VERY close though, they've recently built a massing particle accelerater in sweden or something which speeds particles up to 99.9% the speed of light, then smashes them together to recreate the big bang.. pretty cool. But life cant reach us just yet.
