Freesia
I went to do some checking and realise coifs only adds +4 to ranged bonus. However, it adds very little stab/slash/crush defence. I usually go to ice caves to train my ranged on giants. Since ice warriors are more aggressive, they will come after me first and cause me to take a few hits from their attacks. I feel that substituting a full helm for the coif is definetely a better choice. I take much less damage from ice warriors but in turn only lose out 5 ranged bonus. Discuss. Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.
Scars
Yes,coifs are useless. But in the end it comes down to if you want that extra Ranged bonus or you prefer the Rune full helm for the defense it gives. Not sure how much of a difference a coif makes. If I were to choose from 1 of them, then I'd prefer Rune full helm.Otherwise I wouldn't like to wear any of them while Ranging. Melee the ice warriors first then they stop attacking after a while, then Range them or Ice Giants. Thanks to WithTheQuickness for the sig!
Wachtwoord
You said coifs are useless, how about robins?? gives NO defence adds a +8 range bonus and costs a few milllion :? When everything's been said and done, more has been said than done. All skills 80+
Freesia
You don't actually see many people running with robins, do you? I'm not a p2p but you all know archer helms easily substitutes robins for it's cost although it's only adds 2 ranged bonus less than robins Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. Umega
Hmm, so thats why I see a lot of f2p rangers wear full helms instead of a coif... :-k No longer playing Runescape, I caught the WoW bug.
ghostman
Laderhousen hat ftw! Currently P2P. I don't want the world to see me, 'cause I don't think that they'd understand. Formerly known as: Ghstkill8, Serene Ghst, Genius Goats
Stilev
depends if you wanna increase odds of hitting higher or increase chance of taking less dmg, all depends on your prefence
D. V. Devnull
Having the range boost allows you to kill a target far faster and more easily than having a full helm on. Seems even just 2 extra points make a difference. At least, this has always been the case for me. and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)
Pinkbullet3
I'd have to agree that using a full helm is a better choice than using a coif for ranging. Like you said, the defence bonus is a lot higher and only sacrifices a small amount of ranged bonus. But I usually range with my Tri-jester Bobble hat (from Christmas '05, and it's the green & red one) because I think it looks cool. When you're ranging in a spot where you can't get hit, who cares about defence? It's all about looks. ( : ^ Blog.
Smackapotato
Well, if you ask me the difference of 1 or 2 range bonuse's don't really do much. So that's why instead, I wear something that makes me look good =D So I would wear my guthix helm back when I had it and now I wear lederhosen hat :o EDIT - Signature far exceeds our sig limits but since it's so colourful you can keep it. Eyrelex
Whenever i train range i always use safespots so the range bonus of the coif is much more useful then the defensive bonuses of the full helm for me. And isn't the range bonus +2 not +4. Check out my Pocket Slot idea!
