'FRENCH' Frites - Discussion

Honestly, what does it matter what they're called? Globs of ketchup, mounds of salt, and you're good to go. You really don't need a name for these potato thingies, do you? Call them hoobalagoos if you want! I know I sure will.

Btw, in spanish... patatas fritas. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

It does:

Flemish: friet

:D And of course you can't forget the mayonaise like we love. Ketchup messes up the taste. I even like fries without sauce, just a pinch of salt.

Well... I meant simpler as in the english translation is not as complicated. Um, actually forgot what I meant. But friet does mean fried... patatas fritas friend potatoes... eh w/e, I'll just stick with my fabricated name -> hoobalagoos.

And mayonnaise with them? Never tried it. That might look dirty... I'll have to try that someday. :3> Mayonnaise ftw!

We don't rebel to sell it just suits us well, we're the bright young things.

Chips with mayo is really nice, but chips with coleslaw is nicer :P

Weren't Americans trying to change the name of Fries to 'Freedom Fries' at one point? :? What happened with that?

German is basically the mother of Dutch. So if I put on my German accent and speak Dutch, it really sounds like German, even to true Germans :)

In the music and movies part, Nadril made a request about translating some Norwegian text. I did it, on gut feeling, and when I compared it to Azvareth's, it was pretty accurate. All Germanic languages are very alike.

English is a mixture of different ancient Germanic languages as well, btw. That, and a little French.

I call them chips, whether they are the deep fried chips, or the salt and vinegar/chicken whatever chips.

Chips with some tartae sauce is pretty nice. Or sour cream. :P

It was when the French voted against their war on Iraq, in the UN Safety Council. The americans were even trashing fine french wine and champagne bottles by the time. :P

Well, frites actually come from Belgium :D I don't know why people call them french frites :shame:

REAL BELGIAN FRITES ROCK

Belgian frites are just sooooo dam good \:D/ .

Thoughts?

If this is just another spam-post of me, don't flame just pm me

You spelled FRIES wrong.

I smell irony.

For me, chips are fatter and shorter than fries. I only ever call them fries if they are from McD/BK etc. Otherwise, they are chips. As in, Feesh and cheeps.
