October 2, 200619 yr I am very angry right now. I just saw a report on the news of a guy who made up this show called 'bumfights'. What happens is that they get two homeless persons to fight eachother for money. That is stupid, but what horrifies me is that there have been stunts done by other people branching of from this. I.E. Bum hunters, who tie up and sometimes ducktape a random homeless person. Both humiliatimg him and scaring him. But what is worse is I just saw a clip (on TV) of 5 teenagers that (according to the program) were high on drugs (I am not saying I beleieve this, just saying the program said this). The found a homeless person, and took turns kicking him. Usually in the face. Beating him with a metal bar, and breaking a glass bottle over his head. This horrifies, disgusts, and angers me a great deal. Discuss. October 2, 200619 yr /Wanted for questioning I don't see how "Bum Fights" is bad. Paying people to fight each other? Kind of sounds like boxing to me. If both "bums" consent to it, we shouldn't have the right to tell them they can't. The other stuff is bad though. Tieing them up and beating them is illegal, bum or not. The fact that they are bums shouldn't be an issue here.

The only fighting done is by two willing participants. I've never seen them fight for money. Usually it's the same hobo (Rufus) picking fights with other drunken hobos. I've seen Bum Hunter as well. They make it EXTREMELY fake. The guy walks up to hobos wearing khaki shorts and a bad Australian accent then starts to tape the hobo's hands. If anyone is scared by that, they're trippin' on drugs.

I guess I'd be a little freaked out too but, after I woke up, I'd laugh about it. :P To my knowledge, they haven't woken someone up in the middle of the night. They always go after them in the day time. I could be wrong though.

October 2, 200619 yr Oh yeah. What those teenagers did was way out of line, and it saddens me that something like Bumfights influenced them to do that. Stupid, impressionable children... Just because someone doesn't have a home or a job doesn't make them worthless. :(
October 2, 200619 yr I have volunteered in homeless shelters before, and homeless people are some of the most vulnerable and harmless people I have met. It's sad to see people taking advantadge of them.

Assuming that most bums are on the street because of drugs or alcohol just shows your ignorance. There is no way for that to be a proven statistic other than some politician pulled it out of his [wagon].
October 2, 200619 yr Ive heard a couple of homeless people got seriously hurt (some got knifed and others got beaten and even killed) in BC and Toronto Canada... October 2, 200619 yr homeless people are homeless because they are lazy, why feel sorry for them and such when basically it's there fault I'd like to see you get a job at anywhere semi-decent as a homeless person. It would prove to be quite difficult. Some homeless people are homeless because they are lazy. Some are homeless because of unforseen acidents or mistakes. (your house burning down and insurance not being able to help out much, ect. ect.)
