deloriagod
Any idea exactly what it's for? My mom was a problem with the disks in her back rubbing together but she just deals with it. The doctor said she could go in and have something done so it wouldn't be so bad but she didn't want to. My dad went in for surgery to get a lump taken out of his neck. He came though it just fine and the scar isn't too bad anymore (he had the surgery done over 6 years ago).. Luckily the lump wasn't cancer (I don't remember exactly what it was.. But appearently a lot of people in my family get them in random places). My great grandma has had countless heart attacks and always pulls though. I don't know how many surgerys she's been through but she's still hanging in there. Hope everything goes well ;) Internet Marketing For Newbies

Giordano
My dad lifted a lot of heavy things in work and got some problem in his intestine. They had to push it back into shape and stuff. But this was 2 years ago. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is."
knives669
I wish your mom the best. Hope everything goes well for her. My dad had knee surgery when I was very young. Everytime he climbs stairs, you can hear his knee pop. Me and my brother used to have our bedrooms in the upstairs of our old house when we were very very little, and we would play after bedtime and pretend to be asleep when we heard his knee popping because that meant he was climbing the stairs to see if we were asleep. :P My friend's grandma also had surgery not too long ago. Everything went alright for her besides her having a mild heart attack. :(

How2PK
My mom had surgery for her cancer, and I had surgery for my appendix removel. But I'm sure she's happy with it, because hopefully the pain will be over. :) Oh, the appendix thing was fun. I thought it was pretty cool, and I was out of the hospital after two or three days. mixand
they had to break my arm and put it in the right place, because i couldnt feel pain and didnt know my arm was broken.. and it healed in the shape it was broken "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. Ragen
My Uncle is going to have an operation soon. He has an aortic aneurysm and without this operation its possible that it will rupture at any time. The operation is very risky and chances are that he will die. He has kidney problems as well which complicates things further. I think that it's better this way, to at least try and get better rather than just waiting for it to burst. He's going in for it some time in the next three months I think. Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
Peter
My dad just had emergency triple bypass heart surgery about a month ago. As in, he had chest pains and they said he was having a heart attack and that he needed the surgery immediately if he wanted to live, not voluntary. Basically they cut his chest open, took a large piece of artery from his leg and another piece from the right side of his chest, then cut the leg artery in half and sewed them in to bypass the blood around the clogged arteries. He's all good now, but he was in the hospital for nine days. For about three weeks he couldn't lift anything over ten pounds or drive or get his heart rate 20 beats per minute over normal, so needless to say we had a lot on our hands for a while. He won't be fully recovered for a few months, it was pretty major. Not to mention the fact that it introduced us to the concept of a family history of heart disease, so I've got to do a lot to prevent it.

Makes me wonder too, I often have huge chest pains (also while I write this), prevention is definitely something you should look into. Diet can affect it a lot, some heart disease runs in my family too and has been often linked to eating too much high-cholesterol fats (excessive amounts of margarine, animal fats, etc.)
