dargonhuman
I was fletching earlier and it occurred to me that it's unfair to woodcutter to have to choose between burning their logs and seeing their fletching EXP go up in smoke, or turning their logs into arrow shafts/bows/etc and whittling away their firemaking EXP. So, wouldn't it make sense to be able to burn what you fletch to get some firemaking EXP? I can hear the arguments now about how its more profitable to alch the bows and such, but this isn't for those looking for profit. It's just another skilling option for those of us who are more interested in gaining EXP than gp. How it would work is, after fletching logs into arrow shafts or unstrung bows (crossbow parts would be unburnable), you would be able to burn them by using a tinderbox on them. This would only work for unfeathered shafts and unstrung bows; strung bows and unfinished arrows would be unburnable. Also, anything made from Achey Trees would be unburnable, as well as teak and mahogany. The downside would be by burning a fletched item would be the fire would only last 1/4 as long and would only give about 1/3 the EXP of a log. So, burning 15 arrow shafts would only give about 13 firemaking EXP, and would only burn for about ten or fifteen seconds. The EXP table would look something like this: 15 Arrow shafts: 13 EXP Normal bows: 13 EXP Oak bows: 20 EXP Willow bows: 30 EXP Maple bows: 45 EXP Yew bows: 67 EXP Magic bows: 101 EXP Criticism is welcome so long as it's constructive or at least supportable. Toxicologist
Why don't we melt our Rune Armour? Or maybe, burn our Mystic Robes and Splitbark Armour? Perhaps you would want to bash up your Steel Plate into pieces for strength experience? Or burn your crops? Anyways. Just think about it: does burning bows make sense to you? Even in a Fantasy Game? Why do you resist? dargonhuman
If it makes sense to alch bows to get woodcutting, fletching and magic experience, and if it makes sense to get woodcutting, crafting, fletching, magic and whatever other skill experience to make crossbows, then yes, it does make sense to me that we'd be able to burn unstrung bows to get woodcutting, fletching and firemaking experience. Besides which, by choosing to burn rather than string them, you're giving up the additional fletching and crafting experience that you'd normally get from stringing. Like I said, it's just an alternative to alching. Besides firemaking is one of the more underdeveloped (not to mention useless) skills. This would be just one more use for it is all. And the sarcasm at the beginning of your post is neither necessary nor appreciated. There are a lot of things about RS that don't make sense, even for a fantasy game, that have already been implemented, and many of them make less sense than this. Part of the Star Traks network. dargonhuman
already suggested, got burned down by flames Those were intentional puns, weren't they? And, if it's already been suggested and shot down, then I apologize and withdraw the suggestion. *shrugs* No biggie. Part of the Star Traks network. (^^Clicky!) oddfaery2
your initial argument seems false to me. It is more fair to the majority of woodcutters (who sell their logs instead of using them) for players to not be able to both burn and fletch the logs, that way the demand is higher. Anyway, if this was changed, it'd only be flame for smiths to be able to change their drops back into bars, and resmith the items to fit their desires. Toxicologist
And the sarcasm at the beginning of your post is neither necessary nor appreciated. There are a lot of things about RS that don't make sense, even for a fantasy game, that have already been implemented, and many of them make less sense than this. Those "things that don't make sense" you were referring to could either be explained by the intervention of Magic and the gods, or are necessary for game mechanics and do not clash with reality all that much. What you are suggesting, however; does not sound like something a sane human would do. Your first thing about "gaining experience" is a matter of game mechanics, which is not my point. My point was it is simply... rediculous, if you do not think about the experience gained. Even if you do, it is still quite rediculous. As for my sarcasm, since when has sarcasm been necessary? And the target of the sarcasm is never expected to appreciate it. And also, yes a similar topic like this one was created some time ago with someone about half of your intelligence, and as you can expect, all that is left of him and his thread is a pile of ashes. Why do you resist? victor1995
sorry to tell you but... this is ridiculous! why people would cut some trees, use a knife on them, strung them to simply BURN it? What is the point of that? If you were a ranger or fletcher in real life WHY would you do that? The skills are made for you play the game itself, you burn logs to make a fire to cook thing, not for burning a bow that costed a lot of work and time, just for getting better on that. No! You'll die if you try to kill that farmer!nah whips should be as left as is. besides theyre the intestine of an abbysal demon (i think) have fun crafting that. runescapeloser22
no way, then people could get so much exp at once... lets see... Woodcutting exp (logs) Crafting exp (bowstrings) Fletching exp (making bows) Firemaking exp (burning bows) being able to alch bows should already be enough for u :shame:
Conjurer9
I'd rather get 65 magic exp than 101 fm exp.
