November 4, 200619 yr You forget... people will always want rares because they show status. New players look at that and aim for it, so there will always be someone willing to pay 100M for a pixel paper hat. In Khazakstan we say God, Man, Horse, Dog, then Woman, Rat and small cockroach..M.A.D 4 Lyfe
November 4, 200619 yr eventually phat owners will be on their own levels of richness and keep trading within eachother and theyll be in some kind of giant quadangleircle of richness and wont effect the economy whatsoever Previously known as Monkeybeast0.
November 4, 200619 yr We all now that Jagex is banning lots of people with rares and high skills for "macroing". Could Jagex be trying to ban everyone with several rares, could they be trying to "get rid" of rares to stop the mass raising? 1 in 10 people in rs have a rare, well, more people join rs every day obviously. So they could just not care 'its only a few people'. Yeah well.. My friend was banned.. 2 99's, 95 mage, 87 ranging, fire cape santa and red mask.. not fair... All Quests completed99 Thieving achieved on January 10th, 200899 Defense achieved on August 3rd, 200885 Slayer achieved on July 31st, 20086 Dragon boot drops, 14 Whip drops
November 4, 200619 yr i respect your opinon but heres what i think; one of the reasons that people buy rares is because of investment ( what u said) because they think they'll be of a higher class and get more respect if they have one (which is probably true) in rare cases they buy rares because they think they look "cool" another one is because they collect them anyways, i know/ seens thousands of people (mabey even over 100k people) whos bank gp is over 100m...... and people nowadays still buy party hat sets for 1bill + P.S. i bought a blue mask recently (33m) because of the respect issue, and for investment reasons [iNSERT "I R EATIN TEH SHIX ATM" BILL COSBY SIGNATURE GIF HERE, LOL]
November 4, 200619 yr I think your title doesn't Go by How much "Money" you have but by Your Skills and Reputation. any person can get 300mill if they dedicate time to but it takes time and Great amount of effort to raise your skills...i don't Believe in owning a rare and i never will since i don't care. I Like the fact that i am level 104 with 1455+ Skill total and only about 5-6mill (give or take a mil) in Net worth meaning my items. So thats my thought. ----Retired Runescape Player 1/13/07-----
November 4, 200619 yr Just because not many people have or can get a couple hundred million doesnt mean its impossible. Many merchants and people with 99 skills, depending on the skill, can easily get that much money. Also prices rise with demand of the item compared to supply, and with phats, demand is always going up, and supply is always shrinking, which is why they have insanely hgih prices.
November 4, 200619 yr I think jagex is thinking an evil plan  They ask there mods to make alot of money then they buy every phat in the world and alch them .And then there will be peace :boohoo: Visit my blog! http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=802155&p=6791946#p6791946
November 4, 200619 yr Author I think jagex is thinking an evil plan  They ask there mods to make alot of money then they buy every phat in the world and alch them .And then there will be peace :boohoo: I dont know why, but however much insane that is, it could actually make sense.... :o If you were to, for instance force people to give up their rares for items/gp of equivalent value then a problem/aspect of RS could be 'solved'. And again thanks for everyone's comments. Keep em coming  I think merchanting is extinct.... November 4, 200619 yr many people who have rares mainly by them for an investment, me, and i have made around 23 mil just by owning a blue mask no merching or anything \
November 4, 200619 yr well, sorry if htis has already been posted, but blue party hats for example, may not help you slay the KQ, but they are more of a social icon, they give players that hae worked hard enough hte status of saying, "i had 600m, all for my hard work" so other players can give them the satisfaction of being envied. who would pay 600m to be envied by all players in teh universe? I bet theres a few famous rs players would would pay 600m to NOT be envied by all teh players in the universe I shall take my flock underneath my own wing, and kick them right the [bleep] out of the tree. If they were meant to fly, they won't break their necks on the concrete. So, what is 1.111... equal to?10/9. Please don't continue.

November 7, 200619 yr Getting a headache of this thread. :( - Total amount of gp in RuneScape is definately still growing at a fast pace. - There are plenty of completely comparable Real life "rares" which pretty much behave exactly like RuneScape's rares. - The christmas cracker has been (much) higher in price then the blue party hat for the past half year already. - Rares are totally uncomparable with pseudo-rare (treasure trails, dragonite items) in respect to their price behaviour. The first will only go up in price on the long-term while the latter will only go down in price on the long-term in the current situation. - Material prices have been (roughly) the same in bulk prices for a very long time already, I doubt anything has changed to that. - Rares have been going sideways (not up, nor down) the past 2 months, so an increase in price is rather expectable soon again. Especially with christmas comming up. The value of my bank at its height. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 250 billion+.Most likely the largest trade in RuneScape ever. Estimated value at the peak of the rares market: 70 billion+.

November 8, 200619 yr Maybe so but none of mine are for sell and never will be at any price.....so that takes a few of them out of them game right there. ST=2015+
November 8, 200619 yr Rares will have to go down eventually, the party hat may be worth 100m, but who has the 100m to spend on it? Discuss it is only my opinion and i am open to others' views. If you are planning on flaming please make it a constructive criticism. You are forgetting quite a few things... I'd say about 90% of the rares that are bought and sold are sold to rare item merchants, who almost always try to keep at least one rare and a bunch of gp (from what I've seen). Since most of the rares that are bought or sold are bought/sold to other merchants, they pretty much control the prices. If most of the people who bought rares just bought them to have them, then yes, prices probably would drop very slowly. But that's not the case. Not only is more gp constantly coming into the game, causing gp to be worth less, but most people who buy rares are already rich, since most of them are merchants. In addition, two major money making methods have been introduced within the past year: -Runecrafting (double nats) has become popular (especially with the release of pouches) -Abyssal demons (whips) No only did this cause the prices of rares to rise since more gp came into circulation, but many, many people struck it rich from these methods (especially the first to do so). There are many people out there who are still willing to spend months at a time saving up enough gp to afford rares, primailly to show off their 'wealth.' As long as the demand for rares still exists, the prices will not drop. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog
