Invincible_N
For a long time now my sister has been trying to convince my parents that Runescape has viruses in it so that I cant play it, then I wouldn't use the computer as much and she can use it all she wants without having to kick me off. If anybody has any way of proving to my parents that Runescape can't give your computer viruses (or redirect me to a free virus killer and firewall that isnt a trial and doresnt screw up the computer) I would really appreciate it. Please help so that I can play Runescape again! ("\(.:...:.)/")
Goldlord1
It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a virus without downloading or installing something on your computer.
zzrice007
Yes it does have viruses. One time I was making a pure aco[bleep] and I thought I should read the Terms&Conditions. I didn't do that making my main. Somewhere in it, it says We will be able to send you tracking cookies. so basically it's like signing a contract. Cookies mean that they can track your IP so, they can IP ban you and cookies don't give viruses!

alien_slof
okay, you show your parents the sign saying "currently have 200,000 players online" and tell them why they would all be playing if it had viruses.

You might actually be right! Or it could be her friend Carlie, who gave my sister the idea that it had viruses. The dumbest thing about that is she uses Bearshare, which is powered by Zango, which bombs your computer with adware! :wall: Then while surfing the web I get these popups advertising stuff too explicit to talk about on these forums, and on the very bottom it says "This ad is powered by Zango" It pisses me off! And about the fact that you have to download something to get a virus... I am the only one in my family besides my tobacco-smoking uncle that knows squat about computers and internet. They all think the internet, its websites, its games, and viruses are all powered by a little magical donut that squirts magical dust on your computer to give it internet (I mean this theoretically of course). They think viruses can get on your comp almost magically. ("\(.:...:.)/")
Dragon_Scyth
it is true that you do get a "tracking cookie" from runescape as my Computer is very very well protected and is scanned atleast every 2 weeks without ever finding a single thing Except in my Spyware Scanner a sinlge tracking cookie. but that is nothing to worry about. Yes, that is true. But, it is a cookie which cannot give you a virus therefore your scanning tool doesn't consider the cookie in its final summary. 123neopet
If your parents don't understand computers, offer to sit down and explain to them why RS can't have viruses. If they don't immediately just say they believe you, they will after you start explaining, just so you'll leave them alone. P2P forever!... Or at least 'til <insert excuse here> happens98% of people have signatures with made up statistics in them. If you're one of the 2% that doesn't, copy this and add it to your signature. If you want the most top notch spyware program/virus detection, spyware doctor is the bomb although it costs money, it'll even detect tracking cookies and the hidden spyware on imageshack. xvillexvalox
If you wanna scan your entire comp for free, go to http://www.downloads.com (its part of Cnet, so it's safe) and download the fre trail of AVG. It will remove the viruses and not just push them aside until the trail runs out like others do.
starsteller
Runescape doesn't need viruses. Jagex makes money off the members and the ads, not by hacking computers. Thank the world for spell checkers.
