My first pixel

This is my first ever pixel. I do have experience with paint, drawing architecture on small scales, but never people, and usually never many curves.

It's far from done, and I will add more debris, and maybe some more people if the scale doesn't get to small. If you don't know what it is, it's sort of taken from Poseidon, but I did most of it from my head, with a few pictures as reference to how things exist in perspective at this angle.

C/C, I think that's the proper term, just don't know what it means.

BTW I need help on shading, and the hands, so any tips would be greatly appreciated. :D

It's not bad so far. I'll wait until it progresses more to help.

Hmm, that's odd to say the least. It doesn't look like a JPG, I thought JPG's blur the image?

its starting to look good, a good way to shade woor is to use multiple shades of brown and creat lines in "wood grain" pattern

Thanks. But the problem is, it's shiny wood, like that of a table or chair, and it's dark wood, so it doesn't really have wood grains. What I need is to find out what the effect of light on a shiny dark wood surface is. I'm assuming some sort of reflection, not easy on this scale with paint.

BTW am I using the right scale for a pixel? Or are they usually made bigger?

all depends on what for, most pixels are small, since they take a painstaking amount of effort to make. and some are large, and take months.

a good way to figure that out is to use google images and look for an object, then study the way the light effects it.

its great

and trust me, its awesome for a first

but u cud do with a lil better color choice

heres a lil help from imhomer's pixel tut

5.5 Color Choice

So now you have some experience with shading of different light and darknesses of a specific color. To take it to the next level, we need to take a look at our color wheel.

munsell.gif

At the top, you see the Yellows. In this kind of shading, Yellow is considered the brightest and 'warmest' color. Opposite the Yellow is the Purple-Blue; the 'coldest' and darkest colors.

So, how does this apply to color choice? Well, istead of changing the darkness of a single color to shade, you use multiple colors to shade. In moderation this strategy can be used to add more depth to you work while, when used more liberally, it can also give it a cartoon feeling. As a general rule, the furthur you go for each step from the original in color distortion, the more cartoon-like it will appear.

Now let's go back to the Paint custom color window.

colorshadingpicbk2.png

Before, you used the slider bar and moved it up and down to control shade (yellow line). Now that you know about light and dark colors, we are going to use the color selection piece and slide it side to side to get different colors. This can also be used in addition to the darkness slider bar on the right.

This is a piece I'm working on that I've done with this strategy of coloring:

robotshadingarmue3.png

Here I've actually used three different colors with two darknesses each to color the robot, two yellows, two tans, and two greens.

ps : none of the above is written or done by me. its a piece of chunk from imhomers pixel tut. Its a nice big tut so i showed u the exact section where u will get the help u need ( section 5.5 of tut )
