November 15, 200619 yr Tiny Tsunami Hits Northern Japan Top news: 15 November 2006, Wednesday. A small tsunami has hit northern Japan, according to the country's meteorological agency (JMA) as quoted by BBC. A wave of 40cm height hit Nemuro port in the Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido. The JMA initially expected a tsunami of at least two metres high after an 8.1 magnitude earthquake shook the Kuril Islands, north of Japan. A tsunami warning has also been issued for Russia's Pacific coast by the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Warnings are being broadcast on all Japanese TV and radio stations advising people to move to higher ground. The US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said the tsunami warning also applied to Marcus island, Wake island and Midway island. There have been no reports of injuries or damage following the earthquake. Japan is known to have earthquakes since there are tons of volcanoes around the island, but they never had an earthquake this strong before :?

Every earthquake will trigger a tsunami alert, just as every plane crash is terrorism suspicious. Yes, exactly. Before the tsunami an earthquake was just an earthquake, and now there's always a tsunami warning after an earthquake. (in sea, at least) At least, I think that.
November 15, 200619 yr From now on, also demented 55 year old women carrying a tube of toothpaste in their purses are potential terrorists who fill the tubes with nitroglycerine and may be held for questioning for hours and the rest of the people in the queue get evacuated because their lives are potentially 'threatened'. Whatever happened to real problems? Instead of tsunamis, large ones haven't occured in ages, or terrorism, why not look at "real" terrorism, such as smoking which causes 400,000 deaths alone in the USA every year? And how many people exactly died of terrorism last year.. No, make that in the last decade.. Wait, in the HISTORY of the United states, compared to the number of deaths caused by smoking every single year? Do the math, just smoking kills 50 people per hour, or about 7,000 people a week. That's double the amount of dead people after 9/11.
November 15, 200619 yr Yeah a lot of people die from smoking. So? Who's fault is that? They can stop if they really want to, but they choice not to.
November 15, 200619 yr Yeah a lot of people die from smoking. So? Who's fault is that? They can stop if they really want to, but they choice not to. A fair number of them are non-smokers who suffer as a result of someone else's smoking. I know the price. I pay it gladly.

How many deaths from terrorism can we prevent vs how many deaths from cigs can we what?? force people to stop smokeing? we can't just make people quit... I agree that terrorism is a completely stupid thing to worry about when stuff like car crashes take somthing like 20x the amount of people who died in 9/11 every day... I agree with your statement like that, but cigs nah... there is enough out there so that people know what they are getting into with em' New sigzor^^

November 16, 200619 yr force people to stop smokeing? we can't just make people quit... Now in the USA, by law, you can eavesdrop on any citizen, arrest them for years without trial, confiscate property in the name of 'public security', stop people from bringing toothpaste and soap on an aeroplane, why the heck couldn't you stop people from smoking? They could, they don't want to. In the current situation, any government is idiotic to ban smoking altogether because it creates billions in tax revenue even in the smallest countries. Then just shady gangsters get more money when smuggling cigarettes to the country. Why not ban the sale of a PRODUCT to prevent hundreds of thousands of deaths? It is far easier than trying to be paranoid and seeing terrorism everywhere, even in old women.

It would just open a new market for drugdealers. ^The most disturbing signature on Tip.it^Last.fm|HELLY KAYLA!|Oh the mehagurtz!|#Siencemakers"they care less about their spelling mistakes then I." - Lionheart"apinagez... let me
