If you could go back into History?

First, I would study ancient Hebrew. Then I would go back to the time of the ministry of Jesus and listen to his teachings.

I would do nothing...who knows what our world might be like today if you messed with something in the past...

Well apparently no human will ever discover time travel. If he/she did, don't you think Hitler would have been killed, Kennedy's assassination would have been stopped, and other dictators like Stalin would've been killed too?

Or you could believe in infinite parallel universes for each timeline of each possible variable in time happening, and a time machine just jumps your conscious from one to the other.

Seeing as how I'm looking for somewhere to put my faith, I'd have to go back to time of Christ's life and see if he was truely the son of God or just a regular man.

If not that I'd like to go back to the Vietnam War. I'd want to be an American soldier because I want to see if the war was really as horrible as I've heard. When I think of the US Army I don't think of a soldier whining about how horrible it is. I think of soldiers ready to do anything to defend their country and in this case defeat communism. Maybe I'm just a soulless, heartless bastadr but I don't think soldiers should show weakness like that.. Flame me all you want, you won't change my mind and you won't hurt my feelings.

actually if we didnt have ww1 then ww2 wouldnt have happened and wmd would not have been used in a small dose and we all would have died wen rumsfeld tried 2 take out korea

If World War I hadn't happened, there likely would never have been a Soviet Russia, and by extension, neither would there be a communist China or Korea.

hmmmm....

id go back to the early 70's and live a psycadelic lifestyle of partying and rock music. \m/

but if need be, id gladly go back in time and fight for my country and the allies in either ww1 or ww2, although id imagine it would be horrible.

The more I study history, the more I wouldn't want to live in it.

I doubt that. Marxist philosophies were so prominent and attractive at the time - especialy for countries where the "masses" were treated so poorley (comparativley), so I think a communist state was inevitable - however we can definitley dispute the impact. (and it wouldn't necesarily have been russia either I grant you)

True, the Revolution had been simmering for a good amount of time. However, World War I was the catalyst, what with Tsar Nicholas II's blunder after blunder - assuming personal command of the army, leaving Alexandra and Rasputin to work things out in Petrograd, among other moronic things. As well, World War I was the reason why Soviet Russia developed the way it did. If not for Germany having a go at Russia, there would have been no reason for Comrade Trotsky to make a mess of Brest-Litovsk, and thus less fuel for the fire that Stalin lit under his feet later.

The Revolution could still have happened, but it would come later and it is unlikely that Soviet Russia would have developed as we know it.

nah.

im far too selfish to risk my own life by messing something up.

i would thrive on the opportunity to go to gaul with Caesar and eventually cross the Rubicon, what a pivotal moment in history. Also to follow Alexander on his conquests, experience the Trojan wars, i would love to go back to the ancient Mediterranean world.
