If you could go back into History?

Well History as a subject really fascinates me, its so vast and interesting, plus we're making and changing it every day. To go down in History would be an amazing thing. Anyway here is the question, if you could go back in time to any time period where would you go, how far back and why. What would you do and who would you join, what nationality would you be and who would you help.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Well if I had the opportunity to change the past i'd go back to the 5th century BC. I'd help build up the Athenian Empire by defeating Darius at Marathon or Xerxes at Salamis. Establishing the worlds first democracy and aiding the likes of Themistocles to become a leading General in 5th century Greece. I'd embrace Sparta instead of compete with her and together we would take over the Persian Empire!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what time period would you go to and why, what would you do and change. Let's be sensible about this, basically I want to find out what parts of History you find the most interesting and what you would do if you were placed in the time period.

If the choice was only to go back into the past, I wouldn't. I would go into the future if that was also an option. I like seeing the level of technology increase, and the present is the best time for that.

For example, if you were to go back in time, and kill Hitler before even the first World War was over, the whole of the second World War would be missing, and no one knows what could have happened in that time period. II- Go back to a random year beetween 1050 a.c and 1200 a.c to join to the Knights Templar and do some 1337 pwn4g3.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

III- Go back to year 1824 and see how Simon Bolivar owns all :P

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IV- Go to the year 2000 BC and kill the cureent regent and brainwash the egyptians' brains with some odd propaganda so tehy believe i'm something like the son of the light and i must be worshipped and then see how they add my person to their panteon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

V- See some combats between france and other countries in napoleonic era.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VI- Go back to 7000BC and do some weird draws about me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VII- Go back to 1936 and convince hitler that i'm divine or something because there are some draws about me from the year 7000BC and become some nazi era symbol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

VIII- Convince the population what i'm 9000 years old because i was a knight templar, i drew something in the year 7000BC and i was a nazi symbol.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Finally be the ruler of this world forever mwuahahahah!

How do you plan to execute your idea in reality? :P You don't know their language and wear strange clothes, they'd probably imprison you after you failed to answer their accusations of being a foreign assassin. I doubt a greek king would take a kid wearing blue pants in his personal retinue of companions and allow him to make war strategies with him, especially if you don't know his language.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

By the way Zonorhc, don't be so fast to put them down. 8-) If you had even moderate wealth 2,000+ years ago, you could have a better standard of living and more utilities and services than the richest people of the early 1900's.

kinda boring idea. I usually amuse myself by thinking what a person from past centuries would think of this world - try it, it's fun - really. Like, if somebody would be magically transferred here from the Middle Ages, what would he/she think of, let's say, electric lightning or television.

 

 

 

If I would had to go back in time, I would take as much odd things from this era with me and amaze them. Magic, eh!
