Barihawk
Hello everyone. I have been trying to upload a movie for some Tip.Iters here of a King Dag trip, but after waiting 1.5 hours for the thing to upload, the server craps out and I have to start all over again. Does anyone here have a website with enormous amounts of free space I can host this file on for about a week? I will need a private password for the file. Like I said, it can be removed after a week or two. The reason the file is so large is because I used maximum quality and sound. If anyone can help me out in this regard (or tell me how to compress the thing down to 300 or so without losing quality), please PM me. Thanks in advance! Barihawk. blade995
Do you want an upload site where people want to download it or some where which it could stream the movie?
DaN
I think your problem will be bandwith each time someone downloads it they will use 650MB of the server allocated bandwith useage. how many people are you expecting to have download it? ~Dan64AuSince 27 Aug 2002
Barihawk
Well, about 30 people. But nevermind. Filefront is doing a pretty decent job (although I could have gotten double the download speed out of an ftp). ____
I could let you upload it - I guess :-?
Doomster
To start with, I'd chop it into more managable parts - using a file splitter or achivers, if you don't actually want to cut the content into chapters. HQ vids are a problem - if the object is to be able to read the text, then that requires the compression to be almost lossless (maybe alparysoftin "visually lossless" mode)

If you left it as uncompressed its going to be massive. Other things you can do is to make the dimensions smaller, ex: 640:480 rather then 800:600, use divx codecs and find a good balance between quality and compression, and trim unneeded boring parts out of the video. If its a 650mb file, and its not at least 18 minutes long++, I wouldn't download it. Places you can upload it to are things like megaupload or rapidshare... theres more, probably like 8 or so... but I can't remember them off the top of my head. Otherwise, just torrent it. ... Mementh
try re-encoding somewhat.. divx works pretty good wheny ou get the codecs just right also.. try bit torrent :) its easy to use and the badwidth is not as great The following statement is true. The previous statement is false. 60% of all statistics are made up 90% of the time andrew i love you & want you to have my babys!!! Yes the quality was a bit poor but watchable. I dont think that RS movies consists of high definition pictures at 60 frames a second.
