What's the best type of weapon?

Featured Replies

I was wondering - is it mace, battleaxe..?

Depends on your own personal training preference. If you like powerful weapons that hit high but slow, then choose a Battleaxe/2H. If you want a weapon that hits lower but much more often, choose a Scimitar. I wouldn't suggest using a Dagger ever (unless you're P2p) because it doesn't hit faster than a Scimitar.

mace is pretty weak on all counts (although a mith mace bought from a general store was my first proper weapon) - the only advantage with that is the decent prayer bonus that you can get from it. Apart from that, the above poster is right. You are always trading off strength for speed with the weapon sets

Do you think Scimitar or 2H would be better then? Right now I'm training attack, and it seemed like 2H was doing better than battleaxe. Warhammer just plain sucked. But I was thinking Scimitar might be good since it's the best fast weapon there is.

Damage you can hit isnt everything. What you need is the best balance between speed AND strength.

2h hits high, but certainly not TWICE has high as a scimitar. This makes Scimitar better (2h hits once in the time scimmy hits twice)

There is none, otherwise there would be no point inthe other weapons - each has advantages (and for members weapons, different special advantages).

Dagger: Small, fast, weak weapon, but a poisoned one (members) is greatly feared.

Short sword: More stabbing power than the dagger, but cannot be poisoned.

Scimitar: The strongest of the fast weapons (at least in standard metals), generally preferred for training against softer targets.

Long sword: Slower than a scimitar, but stronger - each have their adherents.

Mace: Prayer bonus makes this a weapon of choice as part of a "prayer outfit". Crush and stab in a single weapon, but rather indifferent stats, makes this versatile but not spectacular.

Warhammer: An uncommon weapon, with crush attack only, has the potential to be a good weapon against plate.

Battle axe: With slash for "soft" targets and crush for plate, decent strength too, the only drawback is the slow speed, giving too much time to eat or run.

Two handed sword: The slowest weapon, and cannot use a shield, but the hardest hitting. Often used to administer a final blow, but if the switch does not deliver a kill, the next hit is 4 seconds away.

Advantages and disadvantages in all of them, but the most common seem to be:

1. Scimitar, for maximum damage output throughout a training session

2. Dagger (poisoned) - an essential backup weapon for members - the minimal slash capability also allows it to cut webs.

3. Two hander - particularly in a KO combination with something faster

4. Long sword, particularly a rune longsword from the guild, for F2P's that don't use the market worlds.

Use this quide to tell you the speed. here

Scimmy are as fast as daggers. But unless the daggers are poinsed than they are not that good.

Edit, the person above me got to it first.

is this about f2p weapons or p2p (cos i'd recomend any dragon wepon cos they all do good damage!)

Good information!

You also have to consider the defensive gear that your enemy is wearing.

A Scimmy does not work well against chain wearing enemies but a long sword in Stab style would work well.

But, against Silk or Leather wearing enemies, the Scimmies slash ability works well.

Ice Giants are vunerable to Crush, so a Baxe or 2H should work well.

So, really, the best weapon is choose involves the Speed/Strength tradeoff

and knowledge of where your enemy is weak.

Hope this helps

Amazed noone has mentioned the whip, which is the best weapon in the game.

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I prefer my rune scimmy over all of my other weapons, but thats just because i cant wield anything better than rune... . But the scimmy is a good compromise between speed and strength.

I don't see why common sense is called common sense since it doesn't seem to be very common at all...

The Runescape OFFICIAL Knowledge Database said they are. Both have "6 bars" of speed, equal to the abyssal whip as well.

Free to play- Rune scimitar for training, no question.

P2P- Whip for defence/attack, dragon scimitar for strength.

This is strictly training talk here.

I really wouldn't call it an era. It was more of a definitive time period during which dinstinctive characteristics were expressed in similar ways.
