Have Jagex Forgotten Bird's Eggs?

Featured Replies

The title just about covers it really - sorry to bring this long standing debate up again but since we've had a new skill and it's again excluded from all updates i thought i'd renew the debate :)

i got myself a blue bird's egg a long time ago (over a year maybe) and there were a load of guesses as to what they were for and what they were being used for - farming, pet birds in the colour of gods, etc.

Do you think Jagex have forgotten about them? Or perhaps it's part of an long and elaborate update that's been going on behind the scenes for the last however many months?

Not that it's bothering me much, it's only taking up one item in my bank but i am curious as to what it's for!

Yeah, I thought maybe hunting would make use of them. I'm hoping that down the line Jagex will allow you to raise a hunting companion from the egg... say an Eagle or Hawk of your own? Dunno...

Others think that it's maybe part of a new Animal Care skill that's still being worked on.

Either way, I hope Jagex come up with something soon... i've got quite a lot of them saved up now.

I'm quite surprised to only be owning one to be fair - i'm 86 wc and i think i got my egg at around lvl 70.

I don't expect them to explain what they're for, but a note on an update just to say "bird eggs info released soon" or something just to make people aware would be kinda handy (even if rather pointless).

to be honest i'd forgotten about it completely until i had my quarterly bank clearout.

Prehaps some connection with those new pets they've been promising. Wrong forum btw.

I'm assuming that they invented them with the concept of falcon hunting ages ago when they came up with the Hunting idea.

And then through the development, and evolution of they're development teams, they might have decided against using them.

I doubt there ever will be a use for them. But I'm usually wrong when predicting updates, so expect a use for them soon.

(Increasing birds nest chances could be a sign they have plans for them)

REMEMBER RUNESCAPE KARMA! Be a nice player, and nice things will come back to you.

I'm back, add me if you deleted me. :)

I seriously doubt they have forgotten about them. I know that bird eggs have been in the game for a while now but I am sure they are going to add a use for them soon. After all, the necromancer by Fally was there for a while before there was a actual use for him too.

First Barrows Item From Chest 2/20/2007 - Verac's Brassard :D

This has been one of the things that has bugged me most in the game. I don't know what it is but I can't stand that it's been nearly a year and a half since their release and still no practical use except to look colorful sitting in my bank. My theory goes that they had released them with plans to use them soon after they came out but through one thing or another they had to postpone or revise what they were going to use them for.

I assume when the background and related pieces fall into place they will finally have a use. But it seems they are getting closer to doing something with them. We had Miscellania give them as bonuses which greatly increased the amount coming into the game and now we have that new item (sorry but I've been crafting and haven't kept up with the new quests) that increases the chance of getting them while wcing. Then again this could just be one of those things they do to let us have something to talk about.

i dont play anymore... i think rs is ruined

once you've completed the new quest "eagle's peak", you have the ability to hunt ferrits, thus being able to hunt rabbits, thus being able to get a rabbit's foot, thus being able to string it to make a "strung rabbit's foot", thus being able to get more bird's nests while wcing, thus being able to have a better chance of getting a bird's egg

in cunclution:jagex might be coming out with a use for bird's eggs soon, =) :D

When you mentioned ferrets, I thought...

Maybe the eggs can be used as bait.

I don't know, but could that be a possibility?

that would be a waste to use as a bait :D only if you could keep ferrets as hunting partners :D

Yes that is what I had been thinking. I hope there is a use for them, I doubt that update was just to help farmers.
