WutangFlu
Found this on yahoo... its intense, and you must watch :] Dial-up don't bother, this movie trailer is quite large, but well worth it. http://playlist.yahoo.com/makeplaylist. ... 80&qth=
indy500fan
I just watched that an hour ago, and I literally just finished reading the comics. It's actually only five comic books long, the movie is going to have a lot of extra stuff in it.
ford_rule
i have been waiting for this movie ever since i heard about its announcement, it looks absolutely brilliant. i love historical fiction, and i love the story of the 300. they were men who were chosen because they had already had sons to carry on the name, so it was a suicide mission basically, to ensure the rest of the spartan army could retreat. awesome storyline possibility
Oy_the_Great
I think there's already been a thread about this, but that's not important. What I find a pity is that they comlpletely tear apart a story that actually did happen. I've got a 6 hour DVD about the trojans and of course the battle of Thermypolae is discussed as well. It seems this film mocks both the Persians as well as the Greeks, looks completely unrealistic and exaggerated. If this story would've been a mythe then I'm fine with exaggeration, but what Hollywood & co make of historical facts make me sad. And since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such. caligula101
^^Yeah i've learnt about the battle aswell. The men that fought were brave but they were nothing like that film portrays, they were Spartans afterall!

Hollywood may have exaggerated it some, but it is based off of Frank Miller's graphical novel called "300". From what I remember from the trailer, it is a lot like the graphic novel. Like they did with Frank Miller's Sin City, the scenes in the movie are pretty much exactly like they are in the novel.

Mr_Putter
Guys, you do realise it's based on a graphic novel, which is based off of a movie, which is based off of a story that has likely been changed with time anyways? It's a MOVIE, and one of the most promising looking movies of next year. It will be the kind of movie you go in and you say "Yeah, this rocks". Not, "The Persians didn't have people that had 2 swords for arms, the people that make this film are stupid!". Yes, I know the story of Thermopylae (because that's how it's actually spelled), and yes, it's a very intriguing story, but that's not what they are going for. They are going for a completely original , action packed take on it, with an awesome visual style. And I'm super excited. Also, to those who have asked - It comes out in March. Yeah but doesn't that make the movie a cover of a cover? :P The comics were based off of a Greek battle - it doesn't make any sense for a movie to be based off of a book that is based off of a battle. I'd rather watch a movie knowing it was factually correct than one that has been completely taken out of context and acted by young hollywood men that probably have never learnt about the battle. Just a thought.

Kind of, and kind of not. The graphic novel is really just it's own story, which is fictional, and just uses some parts that are factual. The movie isn't going to change the story from the graphic novel, it's just going to be a film adaptation, like Sin City was.
