pepsi_me_blu
I need something other than funpic. The ads slow down my whole pc and take up most of the page, although on the plus side can be completely removed by clicking the x button. Does anyone know of a good host? I need something the will allow me 5-7 pages, able to load from FTP, and will let me load up a Java Chat applet. Proud founder of the Lords of RuneScape clan. Mercifull
When you mean "good" do you mean free?... Good hosts will cost money, authough they can be as cheap as $3 a month, as at http://www.webhostingtalk.com they are the experts and impartial too so you wont get peoplewith ulterior motives trying to get you to go with a specific company. pepsi_me_blu
Raw HTML FTW!! I'll check out that site. Yes I do generally mean free when I say good, but also something thats not hard to use and doesn't have too many ads/pop ups. But $3 a month doesn't sound bad for something that will be worth paying for.. Proud founder of the Lords of RuneScape clan. Olgath
d2hosting.com The tiny plan is only $2 a month. The owner is a friend of mine. He kept bugging me to switch and I'm glad I finally did. The best hosting service I've used so far.
Girly
Yep, i would also recommend you use d2hosting. Its only like ̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâã1.05 for me, suppose it depends which side of the pond you live on though doesn't it? heh. I haven't really encountered any other good hosters, but if i do i'll be sure to let you know :)
adthegreat-
That d2 looks very good, but they don't seem to have meny clients, and they only have two servers that i can see. The amount of access they give looks really good, because i don't get alot of stuff they allow and i pay extortionatly more than their prices. I'd say you can't really go wrong paying that much a month :anxious:
Cruiser
I'd say you can't really go wrong paying that much a month :anxious: You need to be weary of extremely low monthly prices because it usually means the host has to oversell the box to keep a profit, which could mean you don't get what you pay for if you ever need it. Compared to say hostdime.com (shameless plug, been there 3 years now), their cheapest plan is $6 a month for a gig of disc and 30gb transfer, which is cheaper per mb than d2 when you crunch the numbers. Places like HostDime also own their own data centers and provides 24/7 tech support by helpdesk or phone if you ever need the help. The only support offered on D2 is an email address and a forum that hasn't had an admin reply in over a month. :? Anyway, WebHostingTalk is an extremely good place to ask for advice as Merc said. Even if you're just looking for cheap $x a month hosting, they're usually more than willing to help you out. I'm not saying use HostDime over D2 (or any other cheap host), just throwing out some words of advise from past experiences.

Vashinred
Free hosting, Freewebs U make you own HTML but its free hosting and after like a month your allowance for bandwidth and and space grows. http://vashinred.googlepages.com/
Mercifull
Free hosting, ]Freewebs U make you own HTML but its free hosting and after like a month your allowance for bandwidth and and space grows. Freewebs just doesnt fall into the "good" category, not even for free hosts because they serve spyware banners. Ask around on webhostingtalk rather than take advice from people on here, no offence guys, because then you will get an impartial opinion rather than someone trying to get you to give money to their mate/them/referral program etc. Overselling isnt too big a deal if you only have a small site, people seem to think they "need" 1 gb filespace and 30GB bandwidth but they just will never use that. Hitman247m
www.1and1.com Cheapppppppp.. Tech Support I hear is bad. BUT CHEAP! I've got 4 sites running off 1 and 1, wouldn't reccommend anything else. Their packages are amazing, and its dirt cheap. Amazing for the money, and the only thing I've seen wrong so far is that their shared linux servers don't have zend optimizer installed...
pepsi_me_blu
Thanks for all the help guys. I'll check out all of them, except freewebs. Seems a lot of people don't like that fo r various reasons and freeweb addresses aren't listed in clan directory, so I assume someone has past bad experience with them or something.
