dark_shadow Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 made a new avvy. saw a post in the art bazaar about a wolf, so decided to make myself a wolf avvy cause i like wolves :P CC and ratings requested. also, is it better or worse than my current avvy? edit: which is better? V.1 or V.2? V.1 V.2- not much difference. changed the eye a bit, shortened the ear, tried to make the fur look less carved-like and more realistic, tried to make the fur look like it was more attatched to the wolf. Always turn out so prettyful. ^^ To be honest, I like your current one a little more - something about the shadow and the colours. That's not to say this one is bad; it's an excellent piece of pixel art. ^^ I've got something nagging me about this piece though, but I can't quite put my finger on it yet. The colors work together better in your new avatar. pjb21 Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 i prefer it to your current personaly, but thats me. cc wise... the ear looks rather long, make it shorter and see if it looks better =) his chin looks rather like a kidney bean o0 but thats only really just weirdness and not that noticable the fur isnt that intragated into the head, itsa kinda like a dogs head poaking out of a pile of something, have hte fur creaping up his face and thinning out. the fur looks like a lump of clay thats been kniffed and carved into shape, as oposed to soft hair. dont really know how you improve that, again, not sure :? the moon looks good, but maybe aa it a tiny bit, one colour in tactical places. looks good tho, and very nice, if slightly cliched, but done well. dark_shadow Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share Posted December 11, 2006 ill AA the moon. never tried AAing before but nows my chance :) ive drawn this wolf twice in rl, both times in colour. the second time i did it, it looked better. i know its kinda overkill; how unusual- a wolf howling in front of a moon. wow-o-wow, how original! lol. its just i love the colours in it, not sure why. ill see if i can fix the chin, eye, and fur up. try to make the fur less... 'carved' and more realistic, and join it to the head properly :oops: thanks for the CC guys! oh.. and part of ma xmas siggie which i started working on again... feel free to suggest anything for it too.. still stuck with a bg.. i kno i still have to make the santa more santa-like, the sleigh more 3D... and yeah.. um.. yeah :-# when i fix 'ze wolf up a bit, ill re post it edit: the re-done wolf is on the first post. any better? pjb21 Posted December 11, 2006 Share Posted December 11, 2006 v2 is defo better, however the ear still looks weird, too ridgid. meh, i know its kinda ment to be ridigd, cos its listening for a reply, but it looks weird :? the moon looks good now, the aa has worked well =) maybe a bit brighter glow around the moon, dunno, see how it looks. the fur looks better now, however its a bit too thick around the throat for my liking. as for your crimbo sig, i suggest you have him on a house roof, with a city landscape behind, would look bery nice (kinda cliche again, but most things are in realist =P) however it could be hard to do that much detail. oh idea! you could have a city landscape but have it blurred out of focus and pixel it that way! that would looks good and is easier. also gives you a chance to work on aa again =) PJB21 100% my own work, i make my own brushes: set 1 set 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dark_shadow Posted December 11, 2006 Author Share Posted December 11, 2006 awesome thanks again for the tips and ideas. shall cont working on the xmas siggie tomorrow, im tired and going to bed now :) aussie time, i know you guys are probably just waking up now, for the 11th of dec while im going to bed on the 11th.lol ill see if i can lessen the density of the fur, and the rigidness of the ear, see if it looks better. shall also try intensifying the glow around the moon :) unfortunately with the xmas sig i did it at the WORST possible angle, without thinking. i just kinda.. started the linework for a sleigh with no actual idea of what i was going to do. but i still love how my reindeer took. theres surprisingly a lot of different colours, and i had to try to blend them quickly, cause if you look at a ref pic of a reindeer the colours kinda meet abruptly. ah well, think i succeeded to the level i was hoping to! gnight all!
