Malhavok
Okay, only recently I discovered the great mini-game. but 30+ runs in and I have yet to get a Barrows drop ! I kill all 6 brothers, sometimes the last brother at the chest. My kill count is 10 to 12, mostly 12. Am I leaving anything out? Do I have bad luck? I thought the drop rate was 1 in 18 runs? All advice helps! Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
PSOfr33k
Eh, I wouldn't worry about it too much, that's just bad luck. And (if you didn't know already...) the kill count doesn't effect your chance of a barrows drop.
Zandalf
Most theories about kill counts revolve around the theory that everything you kill drops something, but that drop doesn't show up until you open the chest. So if you killed Karil 20 times in one run (impossible, obviously), you'd have 20 times greater chances of getting one of Karil's pieces. This extends to the other barrows monsters. Many people believe that the more monsters you you kill (like spiders, skeletons, bloodwurms, etc.) the greater are your chances of getting more runes/coins/racks. These are all theories though! No one knows for sure how it works except for Jagex! Malhavok
So, basically I am doing things right. Just really really bad luck. Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
Zandalf
So, basically I am doing things right. Just really really bad luck. I wouldn't call it "really really" bad luck. Maybe just normal bad luck. 30 runs is a long dry-spell, but there are tales of 75+ runs with nothing. And on the bright side, you're getting tons of cheap mage exp (depending on how you're doing it). So your luck isn't that bad :). mjh737
Just curious, when you say sometimes the last brother at the chest, could you clarify that? Bcuz if you are searching the chest while that brother is still alive and willing to fight your reward will be lousy.
Decedenthope
i believe he means that barrows bro appears when he opens chest, not searches it.... to me its just all luck....i stick with 13 kills and using my zammy book to bless the chest....just a personal thing i do....got my first item(dh axe) by doing that. Smapla
I've had over 70 runs without a barrows drop, some people have had triple that.
ranging_beast
Barrow is luck, pure luck. I had Verac helm, guth helm, and guth spear within 30 run while having a 200+ dry before the verac helm. Yep, pure luck. Elessar3019
Barrows drops, like any other drops in RS, are random. Some people get a left half drop their second day as members, others go a year+ without getting one. The drop rate, based on probabilities, is 1 in 18. How do we know that? Because some people did lots of barrows runs and a little math. That was their number. Maybe it's different for you. 'Course, now that you've posted about it, you'll probably get 3 straight runs with drops! perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN! djp2rr
I once got the last brother when I opened the chest, but because I was low on food and out of prayer, I searched chest before I tele'd. I got my first barrows drop this way (Veracs Flail)... Do blessing the chest work???
