kelem_ryu
Anyway, Here it goes. A simple Jewish History. There were a group of people who lived in the Middle East. A prophet named Abraham came and got them. He said that God called them the chosen ones. He led them to Canaan. There, there was a great famine. Moses, led them to Egypt. There, they became slaves for the pharaoh. Moses then rescued all the Israelites (The people), and led them across the Red Sea, what you hear of when you hear Moses Parted the Red Sea. Anyway.. Then the Israelites wandered back and I believe it was Moses went to go and get the 10 Commandments while the rest of the Israelites worshiped a golden calf and were forced by god to wander the desert for 40 days. ^That i already knew =P After all the Tora is basically the same as the old testament. Anyway, Hanukkah - Jews were in a temple (I think it was while they were in Egypt/Maybe Jerusalem) and I think for some reason they were trapped in there. So they were trapped in there with a candle and enough oil to burn for 1 day. But it burned for 8 days! It's a miracle! (YES, HANUKKAH IS ONE OF THE MOST MINOR HOLIDAYS OF THE JEWISH CALENDAR.) -That was written by me, I don't know much about Judaism, the history at least, so correct me when you find parts that are wrong or out of order. I do know how to read Hebrew and I can recite the Torah Service! \ Sounds it's just the jewish version of celebrating the shortest day (like christan christmas or roman sol invictus. Well happy Hanukkah i guess! (btw can the word Hanukkah be translated into english?)
Abyssalwhip
Haha, even though Judaism is a pretty minor religion, I'm very surprised you could've lived for this long without ever hearing about it. Do you know what Ramadan or Vesak are? Anyways, happy Hanukkah to you runescapeloser22 8-) (and everybody else celebrating Hanukkah)haha even though judaism was the 1st religon (or at least older than christians) Your name is "bet you fail", and you're starting a business with your mom? I'm not even going to touch that.....

In terms of its significance and impact on the world, it's enormous.

So are you claiming they didn't exist :P They existed for thousands of years before that. But it has had, at the least, political influence amongst others.
