The simple solution to Pure Essence.

Featured Replies

Pure Essence; the biggest slap in the face to legitimate players. Surely, we all know what this update entailed long ago, and the effects of it nowadays. In the end, it's driven up essence prices for the better runes, put a dent in most runecrafting profit, and overall harmed us legitimate players.

Since Pure Essence is still subject to the laws of Supply vs. Demand, there are two main ways to fix this: increase supply or lower demand. Naturally, you can't lower the demand without enraging somebody, such as if essence became harder to get. If Jagex is to make an update that allows you to increase supply, there has to be great care to avoid the macroers abusing it again.

So, we need to find a solution that increases supply, while still negating the risk of it falling into macro hands, which leads us to...

THE SOLUTION:

The best way I've found to fix the problem is to allow pure essence to be mined in your kingdom. Since the kingdom requires you to do several higher level quests (Fremmenik Trials, specifically), it knocks out the threat of macroers abusing it. If essence is set to the gathering rate of maples or flax, it's possible to allow the kingdom to bring 800 or more Pure Essence into the economy per day, per person.

Could this be overused for easy profit? Maybe in the beginning, but prices will surely fall a bit if there's a HUGE influx of essence, so it should balance out in the end. On the bright side, this potential update couldn't do any further harm to an already damaged economic item.

At very least, with this update, the economy can begin to turn away from relying on macroers to bring in raw materials, and begin to put control back into the legitimate player. We need to find another way to increase the supply of Pure Essence, and this might just be the long overdue solution.

There already is a huge amount of ess. It should be 40-50 ea...but its not. Supply and demand raised pure ess, then Merchanters to 100 ea. Now both merchanters and miners are happy with this price and kept it. So your idea isn't going to lower prices at all.

Say, for example, you need Pure Essence, and don't want to pay the extortionate prices for it. If you use your kingdom to gather the essence for you, you're lowering the average demand for essence. If many people do this, essence prices will be forced to drop because of a greatly lowered demand.

Merchants and miners are happy, yes. Pure essence hasn't completely crashed because there's still a load of pure essence from when the macroers had a hold of it. Eventually, that's going to deplete, so there has to be some solution to fix it.

it's been discussed before, and it should work, since the point of MTK is to stop older players from using newbies.

That depends how many people have done the quest AND have the money to invest in it. Noneoftheless that works. (if its a huge number of people who can MTK) :)

How is Pure Ess going to deplete? You've seen how many Marcoers and normal players mine ess? Lots I tell you. There's not going to be a pure ess shortage.

nice idea jie:DSDXF:BGHFhfgjnhgflknjk5nj6nl345jkn

this should help alot, and autoers cant do fremmy traisl unless they bother training combat and other skills like crafting, so if their too lazy to get the essence theirselves they wont be able to handle doing all of the quests!!!!!!

thats not what he meant, he meant that the autoers mined so much ess, and it is still in the economy, although many players mine ess please remember that a majority of them are f2p, which cannot mine pure ess, and the p2ps find that its much easier to make cash. i mean sure some of the new players may mine it in p2p, but they dont power mine it for 24 hours strait getting unreasonable amounts a day like a bot can, also bringing my next point its a hassle sitting at varrock bank trading level 30s who have maybe 50 pure essence, getting low amounts at a time, you could easily do nothing for a week and get 8 k pure essence instead of hassling with, for a better word morons trying to sell 50 essence a time

If Pure Ess is supposedly flowing into the economy, why has essence steadily raised from 100 each to 110-120 each? Either demand is increasing or supply is being diminished.

Also true, because nick merchanters dont control the economy, the buyers do, merchanters take advantage of the buyers, but buyers can easily change that by being stubborn, which the players with any desancy are.

They didn't climb in price thanks to merchants. Just visit the runescape forums, you'll see people willingly buying 100k pure essence at 110gp ea, to craft runes and level runecrafting.

And to say that the market depends highly on auto'ers isn't fair as well. I mine rune essence to craft (I'm F2P), and 2 years ago, probably only 1 out of 5 people at the site are auto'ers, the rest are still honest miners selling for quick profit or mining for their own needs. Now with the new rules, it's still the same.

If essence are 30gp ea before the update, and regular essence are still 30gp ea after the update, I can safely say that the number of auto'ers didn't decrease much, since mining reg ess is as profitable as before. Might as well just return to the original plan so that members don't have to pay more for their pure essence. You get cheap essence from honest F2P players, and become BEST FRIENDS FOREVER! <3:

So what if pure essence reserves deplete themselve?

It will cause the supply to drop while demand remains the same. What happens then is that the prioce of Pure ess will rise. Then more people see it profitable to have a swing at the big ole gray rock, and mine some themselves.

In the end the price of a pure ess will settle somewhere higher when it balances itself out again...

So if you want the price of pure ess to rise, dont mine it, but buy it from other players and craft the essence...
