Another hosting request...8 Gigs anyone?

Ugh, I hate to resort to this, but I desperately need to backup irreplacable photos and files.

Can anyone with vast amounts of webspace loan me 8 gigs for 2-5 days?

How much do you think I could get an external hard drive or cheapo DVD burner from Best Buy? I don't know if you could install one on a Dell.

External HDs or burners are going to run at least $50, anywhere you get them because of the enclosure. Even our beloved Newegg lists their cheapest prebuilt externals at $50+. :? I'd definitely suggest you get your hands on one though if you have 8gb of photo's to back up.

As for the Dell question, yes they'll work. Dell's are no different than any other system when it comes to plugging in an external USB drive.

Try and first compress it with something like winrar (rarlabs.com) it doesn't sound like you compressed it.

The other good idea is to break it up in parts. That's a massive file for someone to so generously host. You can probably get something reasonable priced things from newegg.com. While there shipping is great, it sounds like you need something instant. I saw a few things that'd work from best buy at around 80 dollars for a 160gig external. You can consider hosting it as a torrent and just getting a friend to download the torrent, unless it's private. some things like [ForbiddenSite].com allow 100mb things, that'd take a lot of uploading though.

____________Whoops to the below. Cruiser beat me, and i didnt pay attention to "external"

I suppose the best option is to get some sort of storage device you might purchase anyway, like an ipod, or to get a dvd burner, preferably off newegg since i hate bestbuy with their aweful prices :P. I got a quality dvd burner for 40 dollars off newegg. Off newegg after a quick search i found a 25 dollar one, i have no idea to the quality - reviews are reasonable http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827152074.
