I find that I get owned by rangers in the wilderness quite severely. is it true that leveling up my ranged skills makes it harder for rangers to hit me? how can i defend against rangers?

Nope, at 1 def you are pretty much always going to get owned by rangers.

Melee defence is defined by your: Defence level + Melee defence bonus from armour.

 

 

 

Ranged defense is defined by your: Defence level + Ranged defence bonus from armour.

 

 

 

Magic defence is defined by your: Defence level + Magic level + Magic defence bonus from armour.

You will also get owned alot because of your low HP.

I'm gonna have to agree with this person. Any skills left at a level of "1" leave you dangerously vulnerable to dying. This is the reason NONE of my accounts are going to ever be left at "1" on any skill.

increase ur defence to about 45 and you wont get hit often by lvl 38s they might hit u rare 8s.

Get your hp up a lot!! at this magic level, you should have a lot higher hp (unless you used cursing/alching/teleporting). Thats probably why they are killing you so easily. Also, as combat level increases in f2p, the effectiveness of mages go down, and melee/range go up, because the max hit of mages is only 16, while range/melee continuously go up.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also, working on your ranging is a good way to get your hp up, it won't affect your combat at all.

go for 55 at least. THat will keep u alive for another 2 hits \ . But acoid alching/cursing obviously for mage exp from now on. That extra cash buys u vaiuable hp exp.

They'll be fine if they don't stop "curse/weaken/confuse/enchant/alch"-ing... In fact, it would help them to do it more. I should know, since I am a 59 mage with 76 cb and 63 hp... Just lookie at my stats! :thumbsup:

I'd go for 60 hitpoints. That's it. Leave the rest the same.
