January 11, 200719 yr 2 months ago, I was surfing through Deviant Art and Sheezy Art and I came across a link. That link was a about a game called Ragnarok Online. Ragnarok Online, like RS and WoE, is a masssively multiplayer online role playing game. Now, when I clicked that link, it also gave me directions to a website that hosts a private server for running the game. I got curious and went to look deeper. In order to play the game, I had to download a client (Usually 1 Gb in filesize) to hook up with the server. Well 2 months later, im still hooked into playing. Based on my experiences, I say with the utmost pride that this game is WAAAAAAY better than RS. No joking. Im sure WoW is better, but some of us can't or dont want to pay $ 15 a month... Well im giving you guys a link to a list of servers. Most of these servers are 100% free. Some ask for donations, but they're not mandatory. In anycase, if you want to see for yourself, please refer here and pick a server from the list. http://www.gamesites200.com/ragnarok/ Few points: 1.) RO has a Person versus Person feature called WoE, or War of Emperium. Its basically like capture the flag. I suggest you go check it out for yourself if you choose to play. Player Killing is also enabled in some servers. 2.) RO also has a Guild system. They're basically clans, but just called differently... :-w 3.) The game uses pixelated sprites. There are over 5 different classes of jobs you can do. They range from Priests, Archers, Swordsmen, Merchants, Theif, etc. Once you choose a job, you won't be able to change into another. 4.) The game is fundamentally based around combat, unlike skills in RS. The main enemies you will fight are monsters, but as said earlier, you can fight people too. 5.) Maplestory is similar to this game, probably because Maplestory borrowed things from this game originally. Things to consider: 1.) "Rates" like 3/3/3 on the servers means how much more faster the servers are over the Original game. For example, 3/3/3 means 3x faster experience gains 3x faster health, mana regeneration 3x more likely to get item drops 3/3/3 is the standard rate for most servers. The higher the numbers, the faster you levl up or gain items. CHOOSE WISELY. Going too fast means less time exploring the gameplay... 2.) IN ORDER TO PLAY, YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A GAME CLIENT. This client is usually 1 GB in in size. USUALLY. The game also needs quite alot of memory. 3.) RO is not like RS... please dont treat the community here like in RS... Please be nice. 4.) You can get married in game. Thats right, DON'T LIE ABOUT YOUR GENDER WHEN YOU REGISTER! Seriously... Disclaimer: 1.) The link is safe. I bet my reputation on it. But the choice to go and download anything is in YOUR discretion. 2.) As far as i know, these servers are LEGAL. They operate based on a licesenced version of the game, that is paid for and operated by private groups who want to have their own server. 3.) Most servers dont need you to pay for anything. Most are completely free. If you ever need to pay anything, then you are probably better off finding another server... 4.) January 11, 200719 yr I've always wanted to try it, in fact I found Ragnarock Mobile mage for my cell phone one day and downloaded it(Supposedly I can transfer funds from my account on there to a real Ragnarock account), dull as hell, but obviously isn't the same as the real Ragnarock. I'm hooked on WoW atm though, even gave up GoW on LIVE since I got it on New Years. I hear good things about Ragnorak but after playing WoW i definatly play $15 a month worth. Gamertag: King Arizona

January 11, 200719 yr The 3d version looks crappy. Anyhow, Ragnarok is mostly a 2D MMO with Anime characters. Based on my experiences, I say with the utmost pride that this game is WAAAAAAY better than RS. Well, of course. It's better than mining coal {but it's pretty addictive.} This game is not suited for Japanese animation and cartoon haters. Player Killing is also enabled in some servers. Player killing is always enabled. Some server allows you to fight in and outside town. DON'T LIE ABOUT YOUR GENDER WHEN YOU REGISTER! That doesn't stop people cross-dressing. Ragnarok is way better then RuneScape. They have many different classes you can choose from, bosses, guilds, skills, etc etc. They even have some character classes unique to that game(When have you played as a Stalker, or a Merchant before?) I've been considering joining for a while, but I'm not sure if my computer could handle it, if my grades would drop and if I could afford it. If I did though, I'd be a Priest.

I have been playing on a private server called ShadowRO since Feb of last year and I love it. I love the community, I love the simplicity, I love the game. For some reason it holds me when other 3D games don't. Strangly the same hting happened with Runescape. It held my attention for almost a year, yet with other 3D games I normally quit in a few weeks. I hope anyone has fun on any server they try, but I have to suggest sRO. Seeing as its my first, and only server I have tried. And I still love it. If anyone joins, here are my IGNs: Viceroy - My Whitesmith (essentially a very high lvled Blacksmith) Viceboy - My guy I sell stuff with. Feel the Money - My Gank (basically a Auto Steal) Rogue. and some others. I don't really play them though. Oh and uh I forgot, sRO is completely free. Though you can donate, and when you do, you get special stat boosting items. You can play without them though, I have for about a year and know many people who do aswell. These servers are based on either the free official Ragnarok server called Sakray (Which is the official FREE ragnarok test server, much like F2P in RS) or licensed version from a company called eAthena. :-k The Enrichment Center reminds you that the weighted companion cube will never threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. January 11, 200719 yr An event. Ouch... Me training. WoE with my guild. This thing has insane DEF and everyone is trying to kill it, including me. Another Event the GMs held. Sorry I don't have any pictures of WoE. Every since my guild broke up I haven't WoEd, and even then I never really liked WoEing, partly because I'm not that great at it. And thats it! Make of it what you will, I would scout around and see what the other servers are like. But I encourage you to try sRO, you may like it. Also, our rates are 7/7/3. Perfect IMO. January 12, 200719 yr I used to play the game from time to time for a month or two. After I got to my second class (Base level 60 usually) it got really boring going to the same training areas. You could get a party and go to some fun places like Glast Heim, but the exp was worse since it was split between everyone. Boss hunting was the best part of the game, but I never got the MVP, but I loved being the guy who took all the hits for the Hunter and Mage :D (My favorite class was a Knight) PVP was OK, but later on you needed really rare and expensive gear (Which was very hard to come by on all the private servers I played on) to be able to win some fights. In the end though, the game was always fun while it lasted.

You should hear the BR (brazilians) moan and whine on the old Lineage II server I went to. It was kind of funny actualy, PvP in that game always ended up like U.S and UK against everyone else. :lol: .

We were like: "Why do you have BR after your name?" "because i'm from brazil" "no, but why? we are from US and don't have that behind our name" "uh... I don't know..." We got that from 20 different people. Finaly decided that it must be encoded in their DNA or something. :lol: And BR/Polish zergs are always fun too. On one server I was on it was everyone versus the polish zerg. man, that thing was HUGE.
