Intriguing
In recent times, to do with metal, I've only really been listening to what would be catagorized as hardcore, or metalcore. Although I really enjoy this subgenre and will continue listening to it, I would like to try to get into some black metal. Here's my problem. Due to personal choices, I have decided not to listen to music endorsing satanism, anti-religion, or "gore" (grindcore, I think). And, to my knowledge, that's pretty much what black metal is about. So, basically, I like the music, but I hate the content. If someone could direct me to some black metal bands not containing the aforementioned content, it would be great. Generally I'd just use "similar" on last.fm and use darklyrics as a guide, but I can't be bothered. Cool.
Unrealevil
That's REALLY hard to find. Just saying. That kind of defines it.

Nadril
Ildjarn and Burzum are what spring to mind first. Both of them (lyricaly, although Ildjarn really doesn't "have" lyrics) are about Paganism and are much less about anti-christianity. Both of them are generaly about the hatred for mankind now-a-days and.. well, it's hard to describe. However they aren't your common black metaler IMO. You can generaly find black metal bands that are less about satanism but a lot of black metal does at least have traces of anti-chrisianity in it. Anyways, those are the two bands I would recomend. Ildjarn is incredibly hard to listen to though (very bad quality, very minimalistic in nature) but Burzum is simply amazing. Also if you want my opinion I'd consider those two bands some of the best in black metal. oh and, btw, Don't touch bands such as "gorogoth" and "venom" and "mayhem". Gorogoth has gotten in trouble for actualy crusafying people on live concerts and having goats blood everywhere (and their lyrics are incredibly santanistic) and venom generaly also has very satanistic lyrics. Mayhem has less lyrics that are more about satan in general (still have plenty though, and a lot of their songs are very gorey) but they also were part of the orginized church burnings back when black metal was just emergining in Norway. sheepdean
just remember that buying or listening to something doesn't mean you endorse it. lyrics are only a third of the song, the rest is music and vocal styles Back by popular demand! And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the light starts to fade, that you aree the reason, that I am not afraid, and I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall, that we will be together soon if we will be anything at all. Gorgoroth (specially older albums) Burzum Ildjarn Mayhem Horna Behexen Satanic Warmaster Darkthrone Nifelheim <3. Bolded I've listened to before. Not as mch Gorogoth anymore because I think they are trying too hard to be "evil" but their music is still heavy as hell. The other bands I need to check out.. Nadril
It's not a well known band, it's actualy a one man project and only a one album project I belive. Look on http://www.metal-archives.com and search Animus (Isr) [the Isr being he is from isreal).
Clown
Due to personal choices, I have decided not to listen to music endorsing satanism, anti-religion, or "gore" (grindcore, I think). Most metal bands in any subculture have those things in em' 8-) I should know. ~
