The Best Guide to Help You Range those F2P Mossies!

Featured Replies

Introduction

This is a wonderful guide for people who have around 60 or higher range. I, myself, have level 60 range, and I can wonderfully slaughter these moss giants happily. I will be posting about the lovely moss giants at Crandor Island, and I will be adding another section for Varrok Sewers later.

What To Bring/ Requirements

To visit Crandor Island, the only requirement is to do Dragon Slayer (link to tip.it quest guide). You should bring:

- full green Dragon hide (trimmed or not, it doesn't matter)

- Coif (if you want, i prefer not)

- Arrows (iron or steel, mith and higher are too expensive to waste)

- a rune scimmy or r2h, just in case of an emergency

- Level 21+ magic for Low Alch, or level 55+ Magic for High Alch

- Fire Staff and Nats for alching

- Chisel (to get crafting xp- you don't have to keep the gems)

- 30 gp to get on the island

- and the rest food

- pickaxe (if you have 70+ mining, you can bring a pickaxe, and mine addy ores and bank them, i know its not in the picture. I wouldn't recommend mining coal ores to bank, its just a waste of time)

Here is a picture of what I'll usually bring

How to get there!

To get there, here is a map of Karajma, the Karajma Dungeon, and Crandor. I am assuming you know how to get onto Karajma. Follow the red lines from the first map to the next.

Thanks to tip.it for letting me steal these pictures off of them.

Fighting the Moss Giants

I don't know of that many safe spots for the Crandor mossies, but I'll list the ones i know. Remember, you can always use other people as a shield. Also, make sure to keep your fighting style on rapid. Another tip is to keep run on at all times, i like it, and it speeds things up. You will not lose that much energy, it regenerates while you train.

Numba 1

You can use this spot to range both the mossie next to the addy rocks and the mossie inbetween all three mossies.

rsmossieguide009hk5.png

Number 2

You can only use this spot for the last mossie. You must wait until the mossie is north of you, then you can lure him. Or, if someone is standing between you guys, this also works, but not all the time.

rsmossieguide007be0.png

Number Three

There is a third one, but I'm not exactly sure how to use it. You have to use a diagonal thing, and if someone could explain it if they know what I'm talking about, that'd be great.

Miscellaneous stuff and other tips and tricks

- It usually helps when you leave a spot open in your inventory to pick up your arrows and drops.

- High Alch Rates:

Steel Med Helm = 180gp

Black Square Shields = 691gp

Mithril Short Swords = 507gp

Steel Kiteshield = 360gp

- Low Alch Rates:

Steel Med Helm = 120gp

Black Square Shields = 460 gp

Mithril Short Swords = 338gp

Steel Kiteshield = 240gp

- Moss Giants always drop big bones, giving you 15 xp to prayer

- Moss Giants have a total of 60 hp, giving you 240 xp to range, and 80 xp to hp

- For the full list of drops, this is the Tip.It Beistary link and click here

Retired from runescape. I will be on every now and then though. :)

Nice guide. I did this for a few hours when I was f2p :P

Isn't it 1.33*hp for hp exp?

Therefore 80 exp to hp, not 120?

Bulb's right, otherwise good guide.

You should bring a coif, its a little bit more range attack and def bonus, also kill life made a guide about ranging for the whole f2p runescape, I think this will get locked because

A. Its only about 1 thing.

B. Kill life made a guide about everything ranging.

Meh, sometimes i'll eat some food if i get hit on while running past the lessers. I'll usually eat so I have at least an open space to pick up big bones.
