~Merchanting, a cheap way to the riches?~

Featured Replies

personally i could never do that i get bored standing in one place for a while... seems like a waste of time to me.. I prefer exp over gp but not everyone is the same
Maybe you need herblore or construction experiance? Therefore you could merchant to get the money faster so you can get to skilling.

Personally, I like them. Makes it easier on my part to buy large quanties of fletching or runecrafting materials and also easier to sell my barrows loot(as they will buy it and sell for 100k higher)

Also, world 2 is possible entirely by merchants. If it was only true buyers/sellers, then it would take forever to buy or sell goods. However, you have the middle man who does a lot of that work for you, you just have to pay an extra 50-100k.

I always use skills since I can't merchant

I don't have anything against merchants though

Computers will never be above humans because we made them.

That's what monkeys used to say about us.

I was talking to a friend yesterdau who merchanted for a whole week and made a decent amount of cash, on the other hand I use skills to make money (not slayer) and I slowly gather a decent amount of cash. So i was wondering what your thoughts are on the fact that most people with party hats and armor usually merchanted (also stake but thats for another time  )

So post your thoughts!

I say well done to merchanters. Merchanting is boring and very tedious I think. I managed to do it for like 2 days... After that I had enough. It bored me.

how do you think a lvl 50 pure can aford a robin set and a fury, merchanting if you want to have much wealth and other you must put time and efort in it

While the lvl 50's wealth could be from merchanting, don't forget that you can make cash through skills too...

My friend's pure is 84 combat (tank), but it was 89 wcing and a few other high skills. Just because someone has a lot of cash for their level doesn't mean they merchant

If people want to stand around in one area saying the same thing, getting offered noob offers, being called 'noob merchant' (how do you merchant noobs?), being falsely reported for botting, and end up with around twice as much as they had before, they can go do that. I'll go to Barrows, and even if I don't get anything I'll have fun.

A cheap way to the riches? What are you talking about? Of course its cheap...it shouldn't cost you ANY money to do.

If it does, you're doing something VERY wrong... :-k

Need assistance in any of these skills? PM me in game, my private chat is always ON

Through my experience, I've found merching extremely unpredictable and generally unprofitable. Maybe it's my lack of skill, but when I can make 600-700K an hour easily with other tasks, I'd rather not risk my money and rares with a silly little thing like merching.

All "Merching OMG ftw!!" hype are those noobs who read about R2 making billions - but you've got to be amazing to do that. And quite frankly, most people aren't going to have intelligence like that of R2, Duke, etc.

I do think that merchanting is used way too much now days, but if you're good at it and you enjoy it I guess its fine. I don't want to go into my attempts at merchanting, it was pretty :x . I make more then most merchants off my skills anyway. Good merchants are ok but some just get way too greedy and irritating for me.

Merchanting isn't that cheap. It takes lots of patients for merchanting and anyone who can make loads from it has patients.. Let's say slayer for example is another way for money. But it doesn't require too much patients unlike merchanting. So, the conclusion is that everyone is different and people have different ways of achieving the same goal.

Merchanters have the money...skillers have less money, but skills to show for it.

Some mixed them, so it all depends I guess.

Patients? They're merchants, not doctors. :XD:

Merchants, in my opinion, lower prices of everything. They buy nats cheaper then try to sell higher. Well if I'm trying to sell nats, I'll lower my price to his or lower, making me get a stupid deal and losing money. Nothing against them, but I think it's because of them I have to spend 3 hours selling 4k flax to end up only selling it 170 ea instead of what I wanted, 200 ea.

And the only problem is that there is almost no good merchants left. Today market is full of kids trying to make billions without much effort. These are the people that i don't like and sad they are majority in merchanting world.

Personally i don't mind sell at lower limit to merchant because in that case i can sell it fast and still have my money, problem is that if i already selling dirt cheap there is always swarm of wanna-be merchants that trying to cut price for 20% more. I hate these people and they are the ones that makes regular people (read not merchants) distrust whole player class.

Well that my .02

It's called drop trading. You'd be hard pressed to find a pure in that kind of equipment who doesn't.

IM a lv 42 pure whoes working to a robin set and fury with no droptrading
