OceanZephyr
I currently just finished getting some of my combat skills leveled and wanted to try and do barrows for the first time. Please don't flame because i am just looking for some help/advice, i read in the AOW forum, mostly high lvl or low lvl barrows guides. I am kinda right in the middle. I was just wondering what quests are suggested, items, and skills. Currently i am Combat lvl 89 70 attack 70 strength 70 defence 73 Hp 70 Range 63 Mage 60 Slayer 63 Prayer Thanks Also, would you reccomend me getting my combat stats higher for barrows? always trading cooked : monkfish and sharks for your raw
aaron1120
Your stats are perfect. I too think that the AOW guides are too level specific. The Tip.It Official Barrows Guide holds good information for all levels. You should check that out. < | Runehead | Learning Java Programming, Please PM Me Tips | Signature by Loaf2000 | >
Gold_Tiger10
I started barrowing at level 87 combat. :) Your A-OK to barrow. Just bring 4 dose pray pots, monkfish or sharks, runes, arrows, etc. Goodluck : here!
OceanZephyr
I've made a big supply of prayer potions, and fished alot of sharks, so if i say brought enough prayer pots and sharks, could i do more than one run? Also is any specific quests not mention in the tipit guide suggested? always trading cooked : monkfish and sharks for your raw
Gold_Tiger10
I wouldn't suggest you do more than one Barrows Run per trip at your levels. :notalk: here!
Chartres
I wouldn't suggest you do more than one Barrows Run per trip at your levels. :notalk: I think I agree with this until you are really confident, no point in losing noted prayer pots and food if you make a mistake on your first tries. Shades of Morten quest allows you to use the general store in Morten to unnote supplies if you want, in addition to In Search of the Myreque for the shortcut from Canifis to Barrows. A real time saver is having a Canifis portal and altar in your house. Tele there, recharge prayer and use your portal back to Canifis to bank. House teletabs save inventory spaces. Good luck with your Barrows runs, it's addictive :D
OceanZephyr
another question can you kill all the brothers with magic dart? always trading cooked : monkfish and sharks for your raw
Gold_Tiger10
Yes, though...Ahrims has HIGH Magic Defence. It's better range him, much better. =; here!
aaron1120
Well you could, but it would be better to use magic dart on all of them except for Ahrim (range him). < | Runehead | Learning Java Programming, Please PM Me Tips | Signature by Loaf2000 | >
Bludragon124
You may also want to try meleeing karil, I personally prefer it, but then again, I have 99 attack :anxious: Start out maging him with slayerdart, then when you get a feel for barrowing try melee out: you might like it. OceanZephyr
so if i am going to range/ mage all of them does this mean that there is safespots for them, and i will need lesss prayer potions? always trading cooked : monkfish and sharks for your raw
gspbeetle
maybe train up your construction as well(to around 50)... you will get faster rounds with portal room and alter... for your level, i will say ahrims is the best amour you would go for... of cause add a black d hide for fighting ahrims himself you only need to pray pot dharok and kharils... thats 0-2does if kharils not in tunnel or 1-3 does if kharils is in tunnel for the safe spots, see chenw's guide http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=487391 they are only in the tunnel, so.... for quest, in the aid quest is the most preferable, you can bank and shark there... of cause if you have finish rum deal, the holy wrench can reduce your pray pot usage by around 1 does Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
nicrune007
well a way to save food and pot is: (MY barrows plan): mage karil and ranged ahrim in crypt.. safspot the rest of the melee brother in tunnels PROs: rreally little prayer pots needed CONS: monsters will hit you ( i hate skeletons), risky because you will take 1 hit from them... Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username? 99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/
Freesia
With that mage lvl i suggest you pray on ahrim ALWAYS, he'll be hitting you hard and accurate unless you have 80+ mage? :-k Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(. gspbeetle
With that mage lvl i suggest you pray on ahrim ALWAYS, he'll be hitting you hard and accurate unless you have 80+ mage? :-k wont be that bad, i was 68mage with 7x def and black d-hide when i start barrowing, it gives you some 0s at that stage... (yea, i got 6lvs up with barrows, but still no guthans staff  ) Examine ChenGMT (level: 138)
up_the_dubs
well if u have 55 dlayer then slayer dart spell, if not fire blast. bring a dds with str and/or attk pot for karil, MSB and addy (cheap and they own) arrows for ahrim. wear a glory ammy, zammy cape, mystic or monk robes, staff, full god book. range ahrim, melee karil and mage the rest. if its your first time id bring maybe 200 fire blasts, 4 or 5 pray pot (4) and rest of sharks gradually over time u will become more used to it and wont need to bring as much pray pots/food fell free to add me in game for questions  [Admin Edit: Inappropriate images removed]
up_the_dubs
pray for al the brothers until u can figure which ones u can survive against without pray [Admin Edit: Inappropriate images removed]
atronic92
I have almost exactly the same levels as you, except for your level 63 prayer . (I only have 47) Getting to barrows: I suggest completing "In Search of the Myreque" and "Ghosts Ahoy!". To get to Canifis, either house teleport and step through your Karyrll portal, or run from the Ectofuntus. Then use the Myreque shortcut behind the bar, and run south to the swamp boaty. Take the swamp boaty, and walk the rest of the way to barrows. This is what I suggest you wear: Torag plate: for defense Verac skirt: for defense and prayer bonus Rune boots: for defense and strength bonus to speed kill count God book: prayer bonus and magic attack bonus (try not to bring saradomin) God cape: magic attack bonus RFD gloves: best gloves for anything Glory amulet: don't risk a fury! Adamant arrows: not as expensive as rune. Buy from Brian's archery shop in Rimmington. They are usually cheaper there. Slayer staff: to cast slayer dart! : Ring of life: just in case... Don't worry about the negative magic attack bonus, you will almost never miss because the barrow's brothers have such low negative defense bonuses, and Karil has a low magic level, which is where a lot of magic defense comes from. With this in your inventory: Spade: necessary for barrows Ectophial: To teleport out. Preferably replaced with house teletabs so that you can teleport to your house, pray at your alter, and then exit through your Karyrll (Canifis) portal. Runes: to cast slayer dart. I use about 75 casts per trip, the extra are for just in case, but with your magic level I would bring 200 casts, and have 300 more banked. (you don't know when you will lose deaths from a run) Dragon longsword: for when you need to kill skeletons/blood worms/spiders/rats in the tunnels to raise kill count. Also, if you run out of casts you might need to use it to finish off your tunnel brother. (I have had to melee Karil before) You substitute a dragon scimitar, but I think using a whip is risking too much for a small improvement. Dragon hide and magic shortbow: replace with your best dragon hide or Karil's armor. Could use Karil's X-bow. Used for ranging Ahrim. Prayer potions: I usually don't use any unless I have Karil in the tunnels, or when a tunnel Dharok spawns in a room without a safespot. Potatoes: You could also use monkfish. Sharks are too expensive and unneeded, and lobster or swordfish don't heal enough. My method: Bear in mind that if you come across your tunnel brother, just skip him. You will kill him later. 1. Kill Dharok, pray the whole time. 2. Kill Karil with leftover prayer. If you have under 20 prayer points, drink a dose of your prayer potion before. Otherwise, with 20+ prayer points, don't waste a dose on Karil. (Because you have a higher prayer level, you will probably never need to drink a dose of your prayer potion, unless your magic level being lower than mine significantly slows down you killing Dharok.) 3. A. If you have any inventory spots empty, put on your dragonhide/Karils, and wield your bow. Kill Ahrim. Use as many magic shortbow special attacks as you can. If you have any prayer remaining after Karil, pray. B. If you don't have any inventory spots empty, kill Verac. C. But if you don't have any inventory spots empty and you have prayer left, kill Torag and use the last of your prayer on him. Don't drink another dose! Use food on him if you need to. 4. A. If you just killed Ahrim, now kill Verac. Do not pray, you will not need to. Simply eat when you need to. If you want to, use the sidestep method. If you don't know what that is, then don't worry about it. B. If you killed Torag or Verac and have any empty inventory spots, kill Ahrim. If you still haven't used any food, kill the other one of these two. 5. A. If you still have to kill Ahrim, even if you waste a food, kill him now. B. If you already killed Ahrim, kill Torag and Verac. Skip one that you've already killed. 6. Kill Guthan. Don't use prayer! 7. Go into the tunnel. If you have a melee brother in the tunnel, head to one of the corner rooms, where you can safespot them. If you don't know where the safespots are, I suggest that you look at a guide. When you get to a door with a safespot on each side, repeatedly go through it until your tunnel brother appears. Lure him to a safespot, and kill him. Ignore attacking skeletons. If the melee brother appears where there is no safespot, pretend that you were killing him in his crypt. If you come across Dharok, then pray on him. Otherwise, just eat. 8. If Ahrim is in the tunnels, wear your dragon hide and wield your bow. Keep going through the first door that you come to to spawn him, and kill him without prayer. 9. If you have Karil in the tunnels, Do the same as with Ahrim but pray! Karil can be very dangerous without prayer. Do not go back through a door to prepare for Karil, or you might have to kill two Karils! Just drink two doses of your prayer pot, and snap on protection from range to kill Karil. 10. Raise your kill count by killing random monsters in the tunnels. There is proof that having over 20 kill count helps, so I suggest getting 21 kill count. 11. Get to the chest. It's helpful to memorize the answers to some of the puzzles. Open your chest, search it, and hope for something good. Then teleport out, and restock your supplies for another run. I hope that this helps you to make many barrow runs without wasting prayer potions! EDIT: Wow, I can make this into a guide  (should I?)
