Yassin765 Posted February 26, 2007 Share Posted February 26, 2007 This guy put a trojan on the clansite i go to. Now every member in clan can't even go on anything without their passes being stolen. Im running a virus scan right now and 133k files scanned,but no viruses detected. Im using Norton AntiVirus. What should i do about trying to uninstall it? I bet it's some totally awesome 20-stringed, dragon shaped instrument that doubles as a flamethrower/laser phaser. Or some really lame Chinese bamboo thing. You can rarely be keylogged just by someone posting something in a forum. I say rarely as there is a few Internet Explorer exploits that use images to run software on a remote pc. If you upgrade/update your IE you shouldn't have a problem with those flaws. I recommend Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware, they're free to download. IE7 has already been patched for several flaws also found in IE6. Simply upgrading doesn't make the IE security holes go away. A quick Secunia search shows 8 advisories, 6 currently unpatched with 2 (the patched 2) allowing system access. Running hijackthis and posting a log for us to look over would be a good idea. Slimfar Posted February 27, 2007 Share Posted February 27, 2007 I also agree that Spybot Search & Destroy and Adaware are two excellent programs that you should download and run/scan your PC with. Also ensure that after downloading and installing these programs that you check for updates to make sure they are up to date before you scan. It is also really worth having a Firewall installed on your PC as well and a decent free one is Zone Alarm. Actually the worst one (the flaw in the JPEG header, which I'm guessing is what Jagex announced about a few years ago in "Fansite Users Hijacked") was patched before IE7 was released, along with other flaws. Cruiser Posted February 28, 2007 Share Posted February 28, 2007 FireFox is patched fairly quickly if a severe flaw is found. There is no set patch day. It's rolled out as soon as it's finished and tested if it's a major issue or rolled up into a larger fix and released a little later (like 2.0.0.2 was).
