Hiierarch
I'm interested in seeing any new MMOs out there. I browse MMORPG.com regularly and find new games pretty frequently, but I'm looking to play a new MMO. I love betas, small knit communities, etc. you know? I'm just curious to see what everyone else plays.
Nadril
You'll find most people here still enjoy the warcrack. (World of Warcraft). I, personally, am playing Age of Conan currently. As far as you looking for a new MMO what are you want from one? PvP, PvE or what?

Hiierarch
Warcrack ftl. haha I've heard of Age of Conan, though I've never seen or played it. I've tried EVE, Mythos, Guild Wars, Last Chaos, I tried one Korean game but I really don't remember the name. Most MMOs out there are strictly hack and slash pvp, and some skill involvement. Are there any similar to RuneScape? I'm open to anything.
Nadril
Do you just want a deeper crafting system or what? There are games that have a lot to do, but honestly Runescape was so bland that pretty much every skill felt the same. You could always give Everquest II a try. It's a lot like WoW except that, in all honesty, its a bit deeper for gameplay. I'm not sure how many play it currently but I know there are at least two pretty large servers up still (PvP and a PvE). The main thing is that EQ2 has much more involved crafting than most other MMORPGs currently and it sounds like you're into that? Vanguard: Saga of Heroes could be another decent choice as well. It bombed pretty hardcore at the start due to Sigil just releasing it early, but Sony took it under their wing and its a solid game now (I haven't played this one yet personally). From what I understand it, too, has a deep crafting system. I always want to do a shout out to Anarchy Online in these threads though. While argueably the crafting isn't as in depth as EQ2 or Vanguard you can play a large portion of the game for free, much like runescape. Also while it still uses a very rough class based system whenever you gain a level you are free to put the points into numerous, numerous skills which will define what your character is like. The game also is a step away from the drab fantasy archetype most MMOs fall under, and with a graphical update coming soonish its a good time to be playing it. The game has 7 years worth of content, after all. That's all I can really think of that may pertain to what you're interested in.

I do enjoy crafting skills and such, I'm just used to how RuneScape isn't PVP only, it has so many options and such.

People still use the pun Warcrack to describe warcraft but you will find its a way more casual game now.than it was years ago. Age of conan is where you wnat to go for pvp at the moment, at its early stage its the most balanced MMO in terms of pvp andprobably will be for a while. As with all MMO's they change over time and are constantly being tweaked for balance.Warhammer's now in testing so you could twiddle your thumbs and jump wright into that. Oh and wow and i can bet highly that AOC's proffesions are more fleshed out than any skill in runescape.

They plan on adding better stuff to craft (epics and such) later on. Still miles ahead of runescape however.

Looking through my hard drive the other week I realised I had over 100 gigs of east asian MMOs installed. none of which I'd used in months. Millard
You may also want to look Lord of the Rings Online, it has skills/proffesions similar to Runescape that other MMO's dont have (Forester, Farmer, Woodworker etc). But alas i think likes most MMO's you can only have 2 at time which may not be what you want. Its been about a year since i played it so im not quite up to date with it, but the PVP is still probaly non existent, i have no clue about end game content but i still think quite a good number of people play it. Lores pretty interesting as well if your interested in Tolkiens books etc. Also if you like game Beta's you may want to sign up to Warhammer Online which will probaly start open testing in the next month. It's plain and vague. It's nothing special, and in comparison to RuneScape, RuneScape comes out on top. Click fest? AoC is the same, everything with each profession you click to make, sure, you mine for materials, but you click for that, just like in RuneScape. I don't see how you're making such a bullcrap comparison. but honestly Runescape was so bland that pretty much every skill felt the same. Everything in every MMO is the same. Just the graphics make the difference. How you interact makes the difference. Every MMO you're clicking to accomplish the end product in crafting. RuneScape has the best diverse crafting system out there, and probably the most in-depth.
Nadril
skatedog you're very naive if you think that runescape has one of the most "in depth" crafting systems ever. Have you played any other MMOs other then runescape and AoC?

Have you played any other MMOs other then runescape and AoC? I'm pretty sure RuneScape doesn't have the best one, I may have gone a little bit off with the 'out there', but I'm still only comparing to why you would say AoC has a better crafting system then RuneScape, unless I'm entirely misinformed of what a crafting system is suppose to be. I still do not get why you made such a comparison. Miles ahead? Not really. Why do you say it's miles ahead? What makes it miles ahead, and is so unique, or isn't apparent in RuneScape? InkofDeath
Ever hear of an exaggeration? Yep, but I'm disregarding that, and only wanting to know why you're putting it below AoC, when it clearly isn't?

I think they're about just as indepth as each other for now. For example(going off of memory): RS(crafting dragonhide armor): kill dragons for hides>prepare hides>use tools to craft armor AoC(armorsmith) Gather resources, be it through killing or gathering>obtain the armorsmith kits>construct. I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal. OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.
Nadril
Wanted to bump this because I have another recommendation you can try. Tabula Rasa I've been playing lately, in wake of quiting Age of Conan. So far its proven to be a very unique and fun experience (I'm playing with a group of 5 people). The game is an MMOFPS set in the future. I don't really know how to explain it, but the game is just a lot of fun -- there's a ton to do and I've enjoyed it a lot so far. I don't know what else to say because I just started yesterday, but you can try out the 7 day trial (no CC needed!) if you want. I'm on the Pegasus Server and my characters name is Cyrant Biotin. I really would urge anyone looking for an MMO to please not disreguard the smaller ones, a lot of times they're the most fun.

I tried playing that on release but the servers were so bad and the game was so buggy i gave up on it.By the sounds of it its way better than it was.Ive mentioned thisbefore but i dont think any mmo has given on its promise like Tabula Rasa in that unlike Huxley its actually released. Nadril
I haven't really encountered any bugs so far, and servers have been really stable.
