Mind Altar Glitch and Bug Abuse?

sees_all1

Recommended Posts

I'm sure most everyone who plays the Great Orb Project is well aware that Jagex sometimes can't count right - due to the fact that whoever wins the Air Altar wins the Mind Altar too, in the final tally.

If your team wins the air altar, and stops playing, to restore run, take a break, or whatever, is this bug abuse? Seems to me that Jagex has dragged their feet on this one, and shouldn't penalize the players who recognize this.

I personally don't see restoring your run meter with the "Explorer's Ring" as being any kind of bug... In fact, it can lend to multi-round strategies, the likes of which would boggle the mind. Just when your opponent thinks they're going to be able to waste you, it's like *BLAM* in their face, forcing them to earn that win which they thought they would just have on a silver platter. If anything, Jagex has set up the perfect revenge against "bully/jerk"-type players. \'

And BTW, what are you talking about, because I have never seen players getting altars for free. Every time I have played, the rounds always tally fairly, based on what happened in the round. Sure, the server is having to catch lag issues, but other than that, everything is dead-on. :geek:

Sorry, this isn't what I'm talking about.

Go to world 61, win the air altar, and then stop trying. If the other team wins the mind altar, read the text at the end of the game - You'll have an extra win you didn't earn.

I'll go check this out and confirm if it is true... BTW, is this limited to only W61? I have heard that world has trouble with the strain of constantly running the GOP stuff. :-k

UPDATE @ ~45 Min. Later...: You hit it square on the head... Consider the bug as confirmed... I saw the losing version, though... I was just in a round, it was 5 to yellow and 1 tied, but it acted like I didn't even manage to tie for that single altar. :(

You're behind the ball game, aren't you? I got confused earlier on, and thought they were saying something about that. Anywho, I just simply dropped it, since it wasn't part of the discussion. ;)

Now the question at hand - If, while knowing this information, you deliberately don't try at the mind altar, does that constitute bug abuse?

Actually, yes, it does constitute Bug Abuse... Jagex needs to fix this, preferably sometime before the end of the year. <.<

Uh, dude, the "Explorer's Ring" is legal... And it is not that which I hate, seeing as I use it... :shame:

It is the "not trying because you know a bug will give you an altar for free" that is the Bug Abuse... <.<

Here's to bug abuse, eh?

I know that whenever I'm playing, I stop running at the mind altar. I also tell everyone else who's playing to stop trying too, because of the glitch.

I actually made a rant about how horrible that game is messed up.

Check it out here...

Those are just my thoughts on the matter. Jagex definitely NEEDS to fix the GOP. I don't know why they have let it go on for so long. #-o

Personally, I don't see why that constitutes as bug abuse, though. Bug abuse is using the bug to gain an unfair advantage over other players, which you're not getting; if anything, it should be the team that wins the mind altar that gets reported for bug abuse!

But, yes, you are. You win the mind altar, and you can just stop. Not do anything. The unfair advantage comes from when the other players on the other team are still running around, playing like it matters. You gain advantage because they don't get credit, and they also waste run.

I would like it if everyone reported the bug... Jagex doesn't even recognize bugs in minigames right now, so keep submitting reports until they do.

has anyone noticed invisible walls?
I have... But, it only occurs every so often, thankfully, and not every [bleep] time. :geek:

Starting to piss me off so I'm doing 50/50s now lol. ::'
I've just flat stopped. (At least, just until Jagex fixes the [bleep]ing thing.) I got the robes I came there for, and a nice token stack to boot... Only question now is when I'll use it. :P

Theres more to it than just that. It passes on to the next altar you play in. Example:

You win air altar, touch nothing at all in mind altar, you win water altar, and mind doesnt count at all. So it would be 5 altars overall.

If you win air altar, touch no orbs until fire altar, you win body. And the score would be 2:0.

If you touch nothing in air, mind and water will be random.

... No.

Theres 6 altars, if you touch nothing in mind altar, there will only be 5 altars, the altar you never play'd in is automaticly uncounted as anything.
