100% Unofficial New Dragon Items Discussion

This post is for the discussion of the new dragon items, hatchet and 2h, as well as suggested future items. I will start with my own opinions.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think that the creation of new dragon weapons and armour is just a natural progression to keep high levels interested in the game. Miners and woodcutters have complained enough to get their fair share of dragon items as well, at least the woodcutters have. Jagex is going to encounter two major problems with this pattern.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

First is the fact that rune is only fully smithable at high levels around 95, I don't know off hand. We can assume that after Jagex introduces a full dragon set, they will move on to a better type of armour and slowly release that. This will leave dragon items as non-smithable items which I don't believe works well for weapons and armour.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Second is the release of dragon items little related to combat, the dragon hatchet and presumably the dragon pickaxe. As a F2P player who was once a member, I believe that this is taking the difference between P2P and F2P too far. It was fine when there were members only skills or items but having a members only tool for a skill available to F2P doesn't seem fair at all. It gives members in the skills of mining and woodcutting a distinct advantage over F2P. I realize that all the above paragraph is defunct if it's proven that the dragon hatchet does no better job at cutting than the rune axe.

jagex has been known to lie, dragon hatchet probably does cut faster. jagex denied the existance of abyssal whips when they came out

It is proven that they are the same in woodcutting capability, it has been tested by many people on this forum if you look hard enough, ive seen the posts and one of my friends did one as well. So you arent missing anything on that matter trust me.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I think that the dragon pickaxe will be the same as the hatchet. In that it wont give any advantages in mining. Its all for looks.

As for weapons the Pickaxe and Warhammer are about all that's left to cover. Claws are very unlikely, unless they remove Rune Claw's spec and give it to a Dragon Claw.

 

 

 

As for a truely "full" set of dragon armour, I fear it's far away in the future, if at all. The full helm, platebody and kiteshield would essentially make the med, chain and sq a waste and they'd become vastly unpopular.

Nobody uses the hatchet's special. At least nobody I know. I think the pickaxe will show the same things, but I could be wrong.

Another thing, i fear ppl forget, is that the days of runescape updates, are closely coming to an end, Jagex will move on to another game, and they will still keep runescape open, but i bet instead of updates every week it'll be bout every month.

to respond to your idea that Jagex will stop doing RS updates I think you're wrong. Considering Runescape is the third largest MMORPG in the world, I doubt they would try to get rid of a good thing. However, maybe RS3 is around the corner?

They could get more silly, but then again the updates could get better. If Jagex runs out of ideas for updates they could, for once, actually start reading their forums and seeing what people want. Such as better clan support, ect.

...That was an idiodic thing to say. It stands to reason that dragon and rune axes are the same for woodcutting because they need the same level to use. Bronze-Addy, though, have lower level requirements.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And I think if F2P get all jealous because members have better tools, then they need to join members. Getting better stuff is what being a member is all about. It shouldn't be restricted to better combat items, more quests, more skills, and more areas which it seems is what Jagex did in making dragon cut the same as rune. I mean, who actually cares to use a dragon axe while woodcutting? You stand to loose more if you lag and die :roll:

So, P2P should get more and better stuff than f2p because we pay for the game. yes i know, how the financial system goes. this is still how i feel; want more features? pay the 5$ a month.

Don't get me wrong, this is not a general complaint that members get better items than F2P. I accept that P2P pays for what they get like better armour and almost 3 times as much map space, I just don't like how there are increasing differences in skills.

Agreed, and 5$ a month is really cheap. I mean seriously, just skip that one cup of coffee at starbucks for one day out of the month. Don't eat at that fancy restraunt for one night out of the month. Or just look for dollars lieing on the ground or pick up quarters you find on the ground. It's a very easy membership to pay for. One video game that will last you a couple of days (being 50$) can get you 10 months of rs! So if you have the money to own a computer, have an enternet connection, and are able to post on this forum, you should be able to afford runescape memebership.

I repeat this is not a general complaint about membership please keep the discussion to the new dragon items.

I think there puting the dragon items in the game for pking and not for training, just look at the latest specs, there not meant for training but for pking, and i think jagex should put for weapons out for training like the whip instead of all these pking weapons, most train now instead of pking like back in rsc days
