Untradeable Leveling Holiday Drops - Should they be next???

is it just me or do jagex need to rethink the holiday drops. im not saying that they should make them tradeable again, that would make merchanters even richer. im saying that they need to redesign the type of drop they do. take for instance the scythe...its only as good as an iron 2h. Any half decent player could use a better weapon. Then there was the rubber chicken all that was good for was pretending to hit ppl with.

What jagex need to do is introduce a holiday item, a weapon or armour..something of the sort, which for the low lvl player will appear as an alright weapon but as your lvl increases so does the stats of the weapon/armour. For instance a lvl3 gets a weapon equivalent to a bronze long but a lvl50 gets a weapon equivalent to a addy long. Then as each player gains lvls their weapon/armour will gain stats too. Although there will need to be a cap on how high the stats can get to.

Pls ppost comments on what u think about this and pls dont flame

Thanks Atroso

archimage posted an idea very similar to this, minus the holiday drop part...and this one is even worse, because holiday drops are already expensive as it is.

It doesn't matter how useless the item is...idiots will still buy it for millions upon millions of gold, just because they think it labels them as a "good" player.

yeah but u could get them back if you wanted... The thing with hoilday items is that non-members have them aswell. Meaning that a minior thing is the only thing availble. A major update would make everyone except the f2p angrey as most of us dont like them having our stuff for free.(i think thay should have more than what they have already got but still)

Also a weapon that depended on your leval would be unchartable. A level3 with the same weapon as a level90 is strange enough without having them hit totally diffrent things.

My idea relied on 'implants' and who long you had used the weapon

Well I knew you wouldn't agree. I know how you hate facing facts.

Yeah, holiday drops signify how long you have played, so they don't really have any use whatsoever, and if they gave out good weapons for free it would mess up a bit of the mid level weapon market for a good time

what im saying is that for the lvl u are at its not the best armour/weapon. so if u are lvl60 u would be able to wear rune armour/weapons, but this would be the equivalent to a mith weapon. it justs gives players an alright weapon to use but not high enough to destable the weapon/armour market.

They need to make it so that drops correlate with the time that they are done at. They really arn't considered "drops" anymore either, see Jagex should do something creative, something that is tradeable, yes merchants may get rich off of it, but its the economys fault for giving into their outrageous prices. Like in example, a Santa outfit durring Christmas, you can get Santa boots, coat, or pants, they are all tradeable. Now, only players who are rich enough to have a Santa could have a true Full santa set, now it could only be for show, it'd just be nice to see more costumes out there, then again they could have the items non tradeable and rather you have to do something similar to Tressure trails, but like a mini holiday quest, where you can choose ONE piece of Santa's attire. And have the other two pieces be some kind of random event durring christmas season, kind of like frogs, you get to chose what you want.

even if u make it a mith weapon, the 60 still wont use it  the point of holiday drops are not to be useable, theyre meant to show how long you've played like some1 who posted before me said. pretty much wat u want is for holiday items to be worth something (in terms of game use, not cashwise), instead of a fun item just to be used to impress/represent for how long youve played

You really don't want an untradeable, unsellable, undroppable (so that other players can see it) yet strong item in the wilderness. People would use it and make pking in the wilderness much less valuable than before (Scythe is 2 handed meaning no rune scimitar and kite..) Holiday items should stay weak but remain fun. Maybe some extra tricks with the scythe?

The point is you can get drops back, an effective weapon would mean the end to pking as we know it..... bring on the drop!!!!

I'm not flaming, but the whole idea of these new drops is that they're for fun as opposed to function. JAGeX still regrets, I'm sure, the catch 22 that was created by the current rares. Therefore, they're careful to make new holiday drops both silly and untradeable.

  • 1 month later...

Well, a weapon that suits you all the time sounds good, but not on a holiday day. It soulds good as an... item but not holiday related. What weird holiday item would be a deadly weapin that increased in power whenever you did?!

Though I love holidays.
