removing the stat cap

Recommended Posts

Please don't flame me over this one, as I have just thought of it and havn't really thought of any downsides.

Why doesn't jagex make it so you can rise above 99 skill levels. For example, with magic, the highest magic spell there is is 91 ( i think). Surely when there is a lvl 99 spell, that will be it, but with the stat cap removed, more spells will be available.

Also, peoples combat will not stay at 126, but can get bigger and bigger. I see no reason for capping it at 99

Can people give there views on this, and if it is not a good idea, please do not flame

RuneScape has already become such a addicting and endless game, and if you're going to make the levels even higher, people will be afraid to play it because it'll look even more endless.

99 is enough for me, no need for higher ones.

Highest magic spell is at level 96 but even if there was a spell at 99 it doesn't necessarily mean they have to release levels past 99. Smithing has had rune plate and r2h at 99 for quite a few years now.

99 Magic, 99 Defence, 99 Strength, 99 Attack, 99 Hitpoints, 99 Fletching, 99 Woodcutting, 99 Firemaking, 99 Thieving, 99 Ranged, 99 Prayer, 99 Cooking, 99 Fishing

There has to be a maximum or we would have people with a 500+ combat level killing dragons as if they were chickens. With the level cap it gives people with a more casual playing habit a fair shot at profit/fun. In any case if you have level 99 in any skill, chances are you are rich enough already. We have enough people who treat the only mmorpg worth playing into a stupid contest to see who has the most imaginary money/skills. Raising the cap would only fuel that fire, no thanks. Thumbs up to new content, but thats being done already.

Note: when i say "skill" above i mean a trade/combat skill. Obviously 99 cooking alone wont make you rich.

I think you grossly underestimate the rate at which xp required for leveling increases. If ALL of lilyuffie88's xp points (the highest total xp of anyone) were placed into a single skill, and if you can trust extrapolation of xp values past 99, then she would have exactly 1 skill that is level 135. Alternatively if divided between the 7 combat level affecting skills, she would have lvl 115 atk, str, def, hp, pray, ranged, and magic. My best guess is that this isn't even over level 150.

Even true blue no lifers would have a very hard time getting past 105 in any skill (106 would be like getting 99 twice).

One could argue that competition of this form already exists in the form of XP, since there is no cap. But I definately take your point on this one.

Honestly I'd kinda like to see the level cap removed just to see how high anyone would ever manage to get. Sanity would have to give at some point  !

This has been brought up before (although it might not have been on these forums)... The amount of experience needed just 20 levels in (if I remember correctly) is around 100 million? It would mean additions on those levels would be accessed by a new person maybe once a year...

A downside would be the fact that it's pointless. Another would be that it makes the game (like someone said before) seem endless, and people might give up playing it.

This would only work if they mad the lvling easyier i mean you could go up to 199 to make it look loike your a higher lvl but then you would have to make lvling easier. i still say that there is no point.

You have the right, and people have the right to hate you for it.

Only one person has gotten all stats to 99. Over 95% of rs players haven't gotten even close to the double nine in any skill. It's already really painful to max a skill.

There are 3 reasons why they shouldn't add any more levels. There's totally no need for it.

Btw out of curiosity, what's your highest level?

If they made max 200 and made lvling a bit easier then I would support it.

Um, yes, but then it would about the same amount of xp with a different number of levels, and what's the point of that?
