ancientzoide
EDIT: Thx everyone who posted about the number of arrows. Now i need your help on what to train on. Ive got some ideas below but if you have any other ideas that would be great. Im looking for loot vs convenience. So like lessers arent good because there to far for there loot. Ice giants and warriors are better because their closer and they drop good runes and other items i can give to my new main.(i will not be drop trading but having a friend hold onto them then switching accounts and having friend trade back.) so if you could give any advice at all about pure rangers that would be great. And please use the form below. you may adjust the form if you think i should use different levels Please use this form to answer the questions ____________________________ Lvl 3-15 = ? Lvl 15-30 = ? Lvl 30-45 = ? Lvl 45-60 = ? Lvl 60-99 = ? Other information and comments ____________________________ if you could post a chart of what to range at each range lvl group that would be great. Please remember to use the form Heres what i have so far. lvl 3-15 chickens lvl 15-30 stronghold goblins lvl 30-45 hobgoblins by crafting guild lvl 45-60 fortress guards at the black knights fortess lvl 60-99 ice giants and ice warriors in the ice caves You can also post any comments you have for me and any other bits of advice for me. CampbellMC
I can not help you with arrows amounts, I would just suggest doing 20k iron arrows at a time (it is what i did for a while). As for training I see that used one of my suggestions from the previous thread. Do NOT range the black knight fortress guards. You can do a good mix between Moss giants and Red Spiders in varrock sewers. They are pretty good exp and I used red spiders for 40-50 on my pure. kastermester
Do not know about the amount of arrows either, but I have a tip that might help you. When i started training range i tried to use the combat triangle to my advantage, so i ranged low lvl mages, like the ones found in wizards tower and etc. then moved along to higher lvls. Other than that, good luck.
Goobore
Please use this form to answer the questions Read this post to compute arrow usage when picking them up. Approximately: ___________________________ 1. Number of arrows = 150914 Lvl 3-15 = 137 Lvl 15-30 = 408 Lvl 30-45 = 1200 Lvl 45-60 = 4082 Lvl 60-99 = 145087 ...Other information and comments... You can also post any comments you have for me and any other bits of advice for me. 1) Range exp is earned according to the hit that is done to the monster and not on the monster's level. So the monster that you train on doesn't need to be high to be a good training monster. I would select the monster based on loot drops, closeness to a bank, safety in picking up arrows, food required, etc. I used to train on the Crandor Island Lesser Demons mainly because I could get them to myself most of the time. 2) Cast a Curse on the monster first to pull it over to your safe spot. Then, start to range it. This way you don't run all over the place picking up arrows, they will all appear in the monster's loot pile when it dies. Hope this helps. Ancientzoide, I suggest you carry mage-type armor to boost a mage hit with curse/confuse/weaken... If you can get all 3 to hit and take effect, your range training will speed up EXTREMELY!!! \ =D> : :D and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... The lesser won't attack you if you're safespotting. Curse is really the only useful one in a situation like this.

I'll give you the one on "Confuse"... but for "Weaken", you decrease the monsters' damage-blocking ability further by lowering its' strength. I've just happened to notice this in my playing of RuneScape. ~Mr. Devnull and normally with a cool mind.(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... CampbellMC
*Slaps D_V_Devnull in the face. Never comment again please, first of all you are asking him to lower his range attack so he can land non offensive mage attacks. Then you are saying that lowering the lessers attack and strength will speed up training when in reality it is faster to just range them seeing as you would need to waste 6 seconds to cast those extra spells. Lastly you are only 51 range and would have no real idea on anything range related except maybe how to do 1-50 which isnt gonna help this guy since your ideas are terrible. icecube
A lot of "pure archers" have magic levels. They won't affect your combat levels as long as you keep them below your range level. It couldn't possibly hurt to train them, and you may even be a better pker. This isn't RSC anymore... I would have thought you would know that. The magic levels won't affect your combat level as long as range is your main skill, so don't worry about the extra exp if you want to use curse or whatever. alcoolj
Lvl 3-15 = chickens - pick up feathers n sell Lvl 15-45 = minataurs in barb dungeon - great iron arrow drops Lvl 45-70 = hill giants - bank all bones Lvl 70-99 = lessers. I prefer lessers coz once at this level, you want to stay in one spot a looooong time for each level, so even tho its far away, you aren't easily tempted to stray off somewhere :) take a heap of nats to high alch good drops, and 1k+ of your preferred arrows. I usually take iron and steel - use steel if its empty, switch to iron if arrow thieves come lurking :)

imaleber
i think that above 70, you should train at either lessers or moss giants. Personally i got from 70-90 at moss giants in varrock. 99 Ranged F2P achieved 21 November (2961st)

Skenderbeu
-------------------------------------- This is when you reach 60-70 Ranging -------------------------------------- When you reach the levels between the Lvls of 60-65-70, You can kill Werewolfs in Canifis. I trained there, it's quite easy, just stay behind the tables and they won't be able to attack you. So you'll be ranging them there all day and they won't be able take 1 Hp of you. So i reccomend that you go to Canifis for 70 ranging. NOTE:Do not go and range werewolfs if you're Ranging is lower than 58. You won't be able to hit them. So it's just a waste of arrows. Ps; Bring some food just in Case. You never know what could happen. - Skenderbeu
