Drawde_3
I am interested in getting from 25 to 40 Magic in F2P. Would 1000 low level alchs on tuna/salmon be efficient? EDIT: Failed cursing? Whats that! A mad scientist in the attic, the owner is a vampire that dwells in the basement, a witch, skeletons, ghosts....And you thought YOUR neighbors were weird! PhelimReagh
I have a F2P mager/ranger, and until level 33, I would weaken, curse and confuse cows, and then use my best "Strike" spell available to take their hides to sell. Eventually, when I hit level 33, I had a few hundred cowhides, which I then tanned and sold. With that money, I bought a hundred or so laws. From 33 on, I've been tele-grabbing Wine of Zamorak at the Choas temple west of the Goblin Village. I then sell those wines for 1-1.5K each when I run out of laws. Buy more laws, repeat. That will fund any future mage training I need to do in the fututre.
Goobore
I am interested in getting from 25 to 40 Magic in F2P. Would 1000 low level alchs on tuna/salmon be efficient? First, it would take you, at most, 948 alchs to reach your goal. Second, it's not efficient in terms of time or money. You are gonna need to get the fish (costs time) And, thats a very expensive way to do it. Many players would say that's a waste of a Nature rune. It would cost you about 300k gp to buy all of the runes. You're not gonna get much gp back using fish. A more efficient way to do it is to do 1014 failed Curses. That would cost you about 30k gp (1/10 the previous cost) and you don't need to spend any time getting the fish. Finally, you could do it for 0 gp (only time) if you decided to RC all of the runes required for Curse. Hope this helps
Vulxai
i would just use basic strike attacks along with curse/weaken/confuse ~ Proud Father ~ Proud (Currently Deployed) Army National Guardsmen ~ Proud Lakota ~ Retired Tip.It Crew ~
Goobore
i would just use basic strike attacks along with curse/weaken/confuse Actually, he would be better off using just Curse. The best Strike spell averages about 18 magic exp per cast. Curse always gives 29 exp per cast. The cost is about the same for both. If he does "Failed Cursing" then he can cast another Curse on the same monster. That way, he maximizes his exp per Body rune and doesn't have to use the less exp giving Weaken and Confuse spells. 'Course, he's got to learn how to always fail... Hope this helps

Goobore
yes, but it can get boring doing the same thing over and over again, if it mixes it up, it wont be as dull True. It all depends on what the overall goals of the OP are.
Kunelius
Drawde, Fire Strike is cheap and fairly easy way to get your Magic up (, if you want also HP experience...) I have myself 75 Magic. Guess how I trained so far? Alching (with High Alchemy) is a good way of training Magic. Can you afford to buy those Natures?

PhelimReagh
You have a chance of failing any spell, based upon your mage level and any magickal bonuses or penalties, vs. the opponent's defense, and any of their magickal bonsuse or penalties. If you wear enough gear with mage penalties, and go after somebody with relatievely high mage defense, you will fail the spell, but still get the XP for casting. If you're going to sit around casting a curse over and over again, you need for it to fail. For once you've cursed a foe, you can't re-curse for 1 minute. That drastically slows down your training, having to wait. So if you can keep failing on the same foe, you can train fairly quickly and cheaply. Dragon_lord
A good way would be to buy a fire staff and keep casting fire strike. Pretty much what Dragon said.Thread terminated.I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator? No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post. Goobore
Drawde, Fire Strike is cheap ... A good way would be to buy a fire staff and keep casting fire strike. Curse is just as cheap and it takes only 2 Curses to give the same exp as 3 average Fire Strikes...
marnuke
one major thing, fire stike= autocast curse=clicking till you go crazy fire strike= hp exp curse= no hp exp fire strike= decent exp curse= real good exp so if you just want magic and can stand going crazy, or are already crazy, curse training is for you. edit- added a little to it Barrows drops: ahrims staff (2), karils coif, karils xbow, torags plate body, veracs helm. Goobore
the major thing, fire stike= autocast True curse=clicking till you go crazy Well, IMHO, that's a small price to pay for 1.5 times the exp...
Goobore
...EDIT: Failed cursing? Whats that! Failed Cursing is casting a Curse spell on a monster and wearing gear so that the Curses fails to work. Even though it failed, you will still get the full 29 magic exp for the cast. If the Curse worked, then you would get 29 magic exp and have to move on to another monster. That would make training slower. So, for "fast" training, players dress in any full metal armor, (Bronze works as well as Rune), to get their magic attack stat as low as possible. You can get to about -68 if you wear: full helm, chest plate, legs, SoS boots, kite shield, green vambraces, and a water/earth/mud staff. Do not wear any amulet or jewelry to boost your magic attack. You want it as low as possible. Now go and find some easy, safe monster to cast on. Almost any will work. I prefer to use monsters in a multicombat zone so that I will (almost) always have a target. I like to cast from the key room in the Varrock sewers across the water into the 4 zombie ladder room. The zombies can't reach you there. You could also try the caged red monk under the Varrock palace stairs, Port Sarim jail prisoners, scorpions from the rim of the Al-Kharid mine, white knights in their screen/torture castle room, the caged lesser demon in the top of the wizzy tower, and river ducks. Lots of monsters will work. Curse can't be auto-cast and it gives no HP exp. But it is a very cost effective way to raise magic. It gives more exp than all the Strike spells (Mind runes) and all of the runes can be made in the F2P world. Hope this helps
dave0293
to fail get the highest negative mage bonus u can. (i use full rune except for staff i need earth, thosse stronghold boots, no ammy and dragon vambs.) bronze can be subbed for rune. Preferbly u need like a -68 bonus for it to "fail" when u still get 29 xp, all the time. Don't fail on spells that give u base xp (combat spells) as u will only get the base xp.
