Right now WoW or EQ2 are really the only two "main" contenders I see.

LoTRO is an option if you want something new.

Personally I would be leaning towards WoW. I've played Everquest II for a good 4-5 months probably on a PvP server (nagrand). Had a 43 mage among other classes. However after playing WoW a bit I tried out a free reactivation trial on my account for EQ II, couldn't get into it again as much.

Now granted both are very much the same and I'd choose which world sounds better. WoW is certainly more solo friendly than everquest II is although I think it is entirely possible to solo to 70 in EQII.

Biggest problem? EQII's population sucks right now. Thats the main thing that held me back.

Actually its all preference.

So instead of telling the OP the game to play I'm going to say test them all and choose for yourself.

I think I can form a fairly decent opinion from playing all of them.

I played runescape because I was something like 13 or 14 when I first played it. I didn't know better and couldn't get anything better.

Also the game was tollerable in RSC. The game, in its current state, is a joke of an MMORPG.

ps: I'm fairly sure you have not played EQII or WoW, thats why you have no position to be able to say they are horrible or not.

pss: I can't say a game is horrible but you can say the Xbox 360 is garbage eh?

I'd definatly go for LOTRO, though WoW may be a better choice, I have never played WoW myself, so I wouldn't know.

Seeing as you weren't in the LOTRO beta, it would cost the same price either way.

I choose WAR when it comes out..

until then WoW if you want good graphics and awesome multiplayer gameplay but a game that gets boring quickly solo.

Runescape if you want a really fun casual solo game which is enhanced with more than one person, but not dependant upon it and you dont care about graphics.

If you want to have fun whilst leveling in WoW.. then have fun... What you need to do is join a new realm so there will be lots of people your level and find a class that suits you... (healer or tank would be best since they are the most needed classes in the game) You dont have to solo, find a couple of friends and go leveling with them... it makes it hella more fun. And also, if your in a guild, use your guildies, they aren't there because they want to solo the game (hopefully) just ask around, try make some new friends and stuff. You dont have to be the fastest to level 70, take your time, enjoy the quests, get into the game.. I used to think that RP servers were for nerds but since i joined one it makes the game much more fun, since most RPers are more mature. so you could try RP servers too.

Okay I think I should ask this question in this topic, mainly directed at all the WOW players. The only MMO I have ever played is Runescape. I have been considering WOW for sooo long, but I just haven't made the jump yet. Just how much harder is the grinding to level? Is it more satifying? Can I play it knowing nobody who plays it in Real LifeTM? Thanks, :)

I think the biggest mistake people make when deciding to go play WoW is that you will be grinding endlessly like in RuneScape, with very little to no reward besides levels. This isn't the case in WoW - you quest to gain levels; not grind. Mind you, some of the quests do involve killing X amount of mobs - but it is worth it. You get a great amount of XP for completing the quest, some armor/weapons, money, and reputation.

If you walk into WoW thinking you should just kill things over and over and never quest, you're missing out on the game - should have just stuck to RuneScape. I think Wow's solo content is amazing - I can go 1-70 without ever getting into a group 99.9% of the time. Unlike CoH which requires you to group for nearly everything after a certain point.

I would join one of the more popular realms that say HIGH or FULL on population - such as Blackrock, the one I am currently playing on. People have the tendency to roll on new realms that have just been released but history has shown that those realms tend to die quickly - the ones that 'survive' are the ones that were first released.

Um... WoW? (Pun intended)

On my 3d day of the trial I ran out and bought WoW and the Burning Crusade... Then canceled my Runescape Subscription. It's amazing. :o

There are lots of quests, and everything is not money based, in fact most of the gear at the higher levels has nothing to do with how much money you have, instead its more like how much time are you willing to spend to get this godly peice. And once you get really good armor, you gain a big reputation.
