Lionheart_0
WELCOME TO THE FINAL FANTASY THREAD. Here we can discuss all things pertaining to chocobos, magic, and moogles. Final Fantasy Review and History All Things typed here are in my own words, but I do use Wikipedia and http://www.eyesonff.com for some occasional information It was 1987, and it was pretty much the end of Square. After their last few games made, all seemed lost. With bankruptcy around the corner, the company sought to make a last game. Hironobu Sakaguchi was charged to create this last game, their Final fantasy. And thus, Final Fantasy was born. A role playing game for the NES consol which would later become the brain child for all future role playing games of its platform. The game was simple to today̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s standards, but back then, it was a marvel of entertainment. Within Final Fantasy there was a large world to explore, a subjective battle/class system, and an epic storyline for a game of its time. All these qualities led it to its fame, which helped the money-starved company find a phoenix down. Final Fantasy central around 4 heroes of light who come to a town bearing the crystals of light. These heroes were destined to return the land from darkness. To do this, they had to restore the 4 crystals to their former light. After this they learn of a greater, more pure, evil; Chaos. The game used for characters, but there were 5 classes (fighter, black mage, white mage, red mage, monk, and thief) that the player could chose from in the beginning. After this great success, Square decided to create a second Final Fantasy. This time they opted to change both the storyline and combat elements. The story line was based around 4 static characters and a few other guest characters that would be swapped in and out until you found the 4th character. The combat changed dynamic and fairly complex. Unlike most other RPG̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s, Square decided to go for a cause and effect kind of system. So instead of gaining EXP in a fight, a character would gain points for a specific skill or stat depending on an action (i.e. if a character was hit, it would increase stamina and hp, if the character used a sword a lot it caused them to be better at it, ect̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ). This system was quickly replaced in the third as it could be abused and was not well accepted (One could hit their character so many times in the beginning of the game that they received max health before the first boss!). (Unfortunately, I can̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t comment on the story, as I have not played very far into the game. The battle system is not one I like at all!) Well, Square had a lot of money at this point, so they decided to go with a third game. Unfortunately, it never saw the shores of North America or Europe and stayed a Japan only title until recently with the release of the remake for the Nintendo DS system. This game brought back the job class system 4 characters (with guest characters in the remake). The thing about the class system was that it no longer was limited to 6 classes. It had reached a total of 21 classes (and in the DS version there is 34 IICRC). This delivered many, many possibilities. The classes could also be changed during the game allowing for a ride range of game play. The story of this game again revolves around 4 friends who meet up and learn that, again, the darkness is trying to take over the world of light (apparently the last time it was the other way around). So in order to fix the disorder, the 4 must travel near and far to unlock the power of the 4 crystals in order to banish the darkness from the land. Are we sense a theme yet? Ah! Number two. Wait! What? ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅYou already went over number two!̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâà Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you! Zonorhc
Perhaps Square Enix finally realised that pumping out Final Fantasy titles like a redneck mother just isn't going to cut it anymore, so they have to just remake the old ones and rely on die-hard fans for their revenue. Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure. GordanFreeman
They're doing it because it's what most of the fans want. I myself would love to see a remake of any of the three FF's for the PS1, especially 7 or 8. I'd love to see a remake for any of the NES or SNES FF's too. I agree that an FF7 remake is over the top a bit, but hey, it's going to make Square-Enix millions. That's why they'd do it. All of this is just speculation of course. Unless they have already been working on it for at least a couple years, I can't see a remake of FF7 coming out any time soon. Bubsa
FF7 is, no doubt, the greatest of the series. But they just don't have to do this. It can't get better, the only thing SQ-E can do with this is tarnish the game. This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.
Verminox
Hopefully they willl get rid of the irriatating battle system, where monsters pop up randomly, thats the only reason why i can't be arsed to finish the game. Its so irritating, im just about to exit an area oh wait no i cant i have to kill a stupid creature.

Nadril
:( But random battles make the series. FF12 is the only FF game I could stomach (great game btw) because it isn't random.

Nenga
FFVII was their best selling FF game, it's no suprise they're gonna remake it. FFVII is only 2 systems back though. I could live with the playstation version of FFVII, They need to remake ff6. I know they moved it to PSX I have that one but they should completly remake it, not just move it onto a cd, slap some animated scenes in there and call it done. Ponies! arizark
they shouldn't remake ff7 i say just do another game with same characters, different plot but maybe keep same easy battle system i loved ff7s the best out of any ff game
Peronix
Pfft random battles may get annoying at times but they're not that bad, seriously... and in most games once you get a certain ways through there is usually an item to reduce or eliminate random encounters altogether. I think a remake of FFVII would be great. I like the original, but I think that some voice acting (GOOD voice acting, not the rubbish in FFX; though that is one of my favs in the series), more sound effects, and better graphics would make it much better. I think that the older ones (especially VI) are in more need of a remake though. The story in VI is wonderful, but the game itself is a cakewalk and the graphics of course are 2D; if they could make a 3D version of the game that is more challenging I would defiantly buy it. Poopingman
There was so much in the world of FF7 that I wanted to know/learn more about. Far more than any of the others in the series. I support a remake as long as its not the same exact thing with updated visuals. Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....

I support a remake as long as its not the same exact thing with updated visuals. This is along the lines of what I was thinking would make it better, such as more cut-scenes like the one with Zack and Cloud if you go into the mansion place where you got Vincent on the 3rd disc. Maybe some extra materias too...mmmmmmmm... =P~ "El que no arriesga no gana"
Lionheart_0
:? Dosen't Dc, Ac, Crises core, and Before crises explain enough? Either FFVI need a complete do over in the graphics department, or we can redo almost everything about FFI, and I'll be happy. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! meol
Seeing as the original game was so popular on itself, I'd bet a remake will be great hit, and the money is always welcome for such companies. ...Following this logic, I hope we then have a remake of Chrono Trigger. *Imagines Zeal with top-notch graphics* =P~ This signature is intentionally left blank. Lol so you want me to explain approximately 17 different games that the majority of them have no relevance to each other. Right, ill get right on that. Ill try to put something together, but I refuse to try and explain every game, as that is too much work. Edit: Ok I'll review every game, but I'll do it over many days, plus I'll put images in on the end. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
