  1. Thanks for the insight. I never even thought about installing 2 graphics cards at once as being a possibility (not that it is here, since as you said and I noticed last night, its only got the one slot). I am hoping I can get a good two years out of it before I even look at an upgrade, at which time I will see if its worth bringing it up to spec or just get a new one, probably a custom this time. I also can't say overclocking has been a thought for me. I tried that with my last PC, and either because I didn't know what I was doing, or whatever, I actually ended up doing a hard reset inside the case because it couldn't even make it all the way to BIOS. Since I don't think this thing has cracked 50% for more than a few seconds, except with the 7 javas, I am hoping that wont be an issue for a while. Oh, and while I had it open, it has a disturbing amount of dust (I'm also not liking the GPU fan, which seems to be designed to inhale as much dust as possible from the top side and then vigorously distribute it to the interior of the card itself) in there. Any tips on cleaning it out that I should know about , or should I just shut it down, tilt it so its open side down, and go to town with some compressed air (I just don't want to accidently blow dust in further when I was supposed to take the parts out to clean them rather than doing it in the case).
  2. Would they really dare take on Youtube? Well, you'd have to wonder if anyone wants to fight google on that issue. I imagine that youtube is easily profitable enough to be worth defending pretty hard. Also, with things like the VEVO channels and some of the ads, it looks like the music industry is using the site themselves, so I'm not sure they really want it down. Either way, without the SOPA bill, I'm not sure they have the firepower to push the issue. And I thinik only certain fire sharing can be taken down by that kind of case. Megaupload as I understand it (having never used them) stored all the stuff on their own servers, while say a torrent site only enables it. For something like a torrent, you actually need to pursue all the people who make copy protected material available. Then again, they took limewire down a while ago, and it operated on pretty much the same principle, so who knows. Now I have to wonder if this kind of thing wont cause a pirating panic where everyone is afraid their illegal stuff wont be available for much longer, and everyone instantly tries to download everything they want in the foreseeable future while it is still available.
  3. =D> Personally, I think a lot of guys who says all girls look better with no make-up have never truly seen them without any. Now I'm not saying they look bad without it, and I'm definitely not a fan of caked on makeup, but makeup, when subtle and done correctly, can always be a good improvement. I'm not saying you guys do, but a lot of guys I know somehow associated any makeup with being a [bleep], which is just ridiculous. This. If the makeup is done right, most people wouldn't be able to tell your wearing any at all.
  4. So, a while back I got a new computer, but being the impatient person I am I went with a prebuilt, even though the most expensive computer available has what is probably at best the lowest range of proper modern gaming gpu (it will do most things at max, though gta 4 and skyrim demand the next step down). Anyway, here is the complete build: Windows 7 64 bit AMD Phenom II X6 1065T (Thuban 45nm Technology) (6 core @ 2.9Ghz) 12.0 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24) FOXCONN 2A92 (CPU 1) <- Motherboard ATI Radeon HD 6770 (HP) (with 1 GB GDDR5 RAM) 1954GB Western Digital WDC WD20EARS-60MVWB0 SCSI Disk Device DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device hp BD E DH12E3LH SCSI CdRom Device I have two questions. First I was looking at the motherboard, and I saw these blank slots, and I don't have a blazing clue what would go in them. They are about an inch long. Second, did I manage to buy something that was put together with the absolute bare minimum or parts that would hold it together, or is this thing going go have some upgrade potential in a year or two, when its graphics card can't keep up anymore. It's ludicrously unbalanced between the graphics and the CPU/RAM, since there is no possible way it will ever manage to run anything that will strain it unless I take up using my computer to crunch simulations of nuclear explosions or something, but my hope is that it just means it will be able to keep up with more robust graphics sometime down the line. The PSU is rated for 460W, but I honestly have no idea where that stands. I don't know if that's the bare minimum to run its current GPU, or if I could throw in the top of the line model and it would be all rainbows and sunshine. It does have another RAM slot available (like I'm going to need it), so my hope is that other than apparently only working with AMD processors, its motherboard is not a total POS. Also, I can't say working with AMD processors bothers me, since I don't see replacing the current one anytime soon. So did I accidently buy something that's going to be a paper weight when it turns 3, or is there some hope of it being upgraded in the future. Also, if it say turns out that the motherboard and CPU are all fine, but it will need a new PSU to handle a better GPU, just how unfeasible is it to put in a bigger PSU? In the mean time, it runs like a dream. The only time its ever really had trouble when when my system goofed and didn't terminate the java process for each instance of runescape as I closed it down. By the time it was running 7 instances at once, it was having a little trouble maintaining a frame rate above 20.
  5. Just building on what Kim said. This could work, but only for a large clan. To start something like this, you'd really need to start with a clan that already has say at least 300 people in it, just so that it would have the population to support doing a bit of everything. Once you get past the problem of size though, then the idea of a clan with no real specialty is intriguing. It also depends on who your members are. For a single clan to support this, not only do you need a lot of people (actually, probably looking at even more than I already put down), but they would need to people who do a lot of different things, and are very active. An easier way to do something like this would probably be an alliance of clans with different specialties, that hold events for each other. So you get your pking clan, and your skilling clan, and your pvm clan, and you have your members participate in the events of the other clans in addition to your own, and have members from each of the clans form their own councils to create the events, so that each clan is participating in everything at every level. If you really wanted to do it with just one clan, then you would need to start off with one specialty I think, and cultivate a member base of people with many interests, and then add things on as the size grows to support it.
  6. It's more disgusting when they keep a bottle to spit in and it's grosser the more it's filled. This was one of the reasons I regretted seeing my relatives last month when one of my dad's relatives was one of those chewers and had a 1/4 filled bottle and it was 1/2 by the time we got there. It made me cringe with the spitting sound and how he emptied it nearby when we got to our destination. Everybody else was alright but I wanted to gouge my eyes and ears off of me. :-? :wall: I know people who keep it in nice big jugs that cleaned...well never. Probably throw em in the trash like that. Anyway, I also know someone who spilled one in his room. Made it reek for a good while
  7. I do that Star, but only once. I don't keep coming back. And about the texting thing, can't say many people have done that to me, but I've felt more than free every time to let them know what I thought about suddenly finding myself talking to the cell phone. I'm sure its just riveted by what I have to say, but I wasn't talking to it.
  8. Omg, I totally think of Halo as the guy in his avatar too! And the leafs are winning? I must be dreaming.

Just finished watching the series finale of Andromeda. I'm pretty sure I stopped really being able to figure out what was going on in that show someplace back in season 4. Still, I enjoyed it, even if I had to just sit back and watch because I was totally clueless about what was going on. And what a lovely post in your blog bows.
  10. I must be the only person who didn't even notice they changed the colour to orange until everyone starting complaining, then I went and looked as was all 'huh, their right'. For once, I couldn'y care less. I spend so little time looking at the skill tab I can't say I was particularly attached to how it looked before, and unlike the last time they made it orange, they made the rest of it dark so that it doesn't look stupid. Enjoying the boots massively. Just in time since they sucked a lot of xp out of the factory last week, so this will get me fairly close to my goal, and I'll just go back to the factory for that. I like the skill guide interfaces, in particular the 'all' option.

So true. The internet seems to have mostly, if only for a little while, put aside their disagreements to face a bigger enemy. I have never seen an internet so united to a common focus before. I also just read this: http://www.develop-online.net/news/39527/Jagex-and-Tiga-hit-out-at-SOPA Right at the end it mentions EA, Sony and Nintendo all being against SOPA now (I wonder if they just didn't want to be seen supporting it though). Whatever their reason, its nice to have the world gaming giants on the side of the internet. And of course, this means sony and 4chan are on the same team now too. At least until the vote.

Crazy warm today. It was like 7 degrees this afternoon ©, and almost no wind at all. Considering that yesterday was more like -10 with a -17 windchill, and that feels pretty much like a little bit of summer. Of course, sun is going down now so its closing in on freezing again, and the wind has picked up. Still, a nice break from winter.

Urgh, one year we got studs that stuck out of the tires really far. Like about 250% more than is normal. As I recall, the people who put them in said "you'l be able to climb trees with those on". I will say, they were pretty effective though. Probably just terrible for the road though.
  14. Both of those were a bit of hate-love for me. On one hand, I didn't really like it and it put me off...but on the other hand, because of that, it just felt that much more realistic, which also kinda made the books better. This is me. While I can't say the romances were exactly enhancing my enjoyment of the books, I must admit that it made things a lot more believable for me, and they were really well done. That's really what I loved about the books was how real they felt. When I put the third book down, I felt like I had read something out of real history (despite the books being set in the future), rather than a story someone made up.
  15. Duff, do you have a shrine to her in your house too? Do we need to stage an internet intervention for you?

All things considered, to me alpha just means douche. The bossy person who is used to getting their own way all the time. I think Betas make the better partner (unless your in a cave man or anarchy situation, in which case you want an alpha for sure), since they tend to work harder at relationships (because girls aren't lining up for them). Since Alpha behavior tends to be a desirable trait for breeding purposes, the Beta's need to bring something else to the table to help them out. They are also used to not getting their own way all the time, which makes it a lot easier to have a relationship on equal footing, rather than being 'his girl'.
  17. I got reminded of this one today. Spitting. I can't stand people who spit on the ground (hopefully outside). I don't know why it bugs me, but it does. I have the same problem with people who chew tobacco. I used to have people in the house who would chew and spit in the living room, and there were a few 'if looks could kill' moments apparently (I'm told that more than once an expression that suggested I was fantasizing about feeding them to a wood chipper would show for a second or two right after they spat). Totally forgot about that until someone spat right as I was walking by them today.

Explained where? I got a bite plate today, since apparently I grind the bejesus out of my teeth when I sleep. All 4 of my canine teeth are super flat now, if on a bit of an angle. Kinda neat to see them glide over each other though (lightly of course) since they now match perfectly.

    This.
  20. This is another thought I have had. The easiest way to stop interplayer gambling is by making a better alternative. This does however require Jagex to officially support gambling, which they might not be willing to do, though I would consider the dual arena (staking) to be official gambling support. All they would have to do is create an NPC that you can place bets on. The players will be inclined use this, because it rules out the possibility of being scammed (either by logging or stacked odds), and it also would allow for a money sink. As long as the odds are reasonable, with an appropriate payout (something along the lines of the 55x2 game would be good), it would probably work, and cut down on a lot of the player run gambling rings.
  21. Hmm, so more of a specialty use thing, for particular opponents. Gives you something to do with all the stuff that alchemy pumps out though. I assume there is a way to apply it through the quick menu? I feel like using the full inventory would get old pretty fast if you used poison on more than the boss like monsters.
  22. Heard of it. I'm still in the early stages of the game though, so I can't imagine I will be getting to something like that too soon. Also, not sure if I want to use something like that in general use or not, since I feel that could make certain fights too easy. Then again, -50 spell damage every couple of seconds could come in handy plenty of times (if I recall right, it was halfway between lesser ward and the next one up). My mage could go for that too, even though I specialize in dual casting. Wards suck up all the juice, and something to hide behind and shoot through would be neat. Can someone tell me how poisions on weapons work? Does it come off on the next hit or does it stick around for a minute or what. I can never remember to check it when I'm in game, and I know it doesn't last until replaced like I was hoping it would.
  23. I do a bit more, and somewhat favor, up close combat, so I'm only planning on the first perk for archery (which will get me up to +100% damage). I like to sneak around and open my fights up with a ranged attack, but once I'm discovered I'm all about the sword. I'm also thinking about losing the follower because they are only useful about half the time (I still only have lydia, and she is more of a distraction now than a damage dealer. Maybe once I get her a better sword). I need to get in more blocks though. The block skill is seriously lagging, and I would like to get to 50 for that elemental perk so that I can better tank dragons (I think its 50% from the perk, which gets me up to 75%).
  24. I wanted a new character because it would have been really difficult to try and convert my mage. It's already got level, and perks spent, and it has no provision made to survive an up close fight. Trying to convert it would mean a lot of dying, and it would only detract from my magic abilities. I also wanted a different race, something more tailored to a warrior. For me, I wanted extra magic resistance. Besides, I wasn't that far into the game, especially not in the story quests. Since my combat focus is now entirely different, my focus is on different quests more suited to my talents. And I've decided to invest some time in smithing, and the 5 perks that I'll need to create daedric armour. Even if I could find that armour on my enemies, I wouldn't be able to improve it, and I just saw what superior looks like on my skyforge sword and steel armor, and I'm sold. I'll need it for my weapons if nothing else, since swords and bows don't have great damage (at least the sword makes up for it by being fast, bows just have a low dps).

The best thing you could do is almost certainly talk to her about it, and find out what's going on. I'm with obfuscator in that what she is doing isn't cool, but there is no point ending a relationship ove rit before at least giver her a chance to explain.
